In August of 2013, before the shooting of Michael Brown; before the death of Eric Garner, a White Virginia man was murdered by the Fairfax County Police while he was standing in the doorway of his own home with his hands up. He was actually begging the police not to shoot him when he was shot anyway for no apparent reason.
The victim, John Geer was involved in a furious argument with his live-in girlfriend when she decided to call to the police. Geer was throwing her belongings out onto the lawn of the house they shared and she could see no other way to stop him.
By all outward signs, there was nothing unusual about this call. Across the country, thousands times each day, police offers are called upon to handle jobs like this. It was the classic family dispute in police terms.
There is very little that is in dispute about what happened next. As a retired NYPD street cop this is the type of story that makes me want to crawl under a table. Geer was not drunk or high on drugs. He did have a legally processed handgun which only came into the equation when he held it up in its holster and offered to give it to the police negotiator.
There was no indication that the police thought Geer had committed any crime or was about to do so. When the police received the girlfriends call for help they sent two radio cars so four cops arrived. .Barnes recalls that Geer was polite but reluctant to step outside of his home for fear of being shot (as Geer expressed).
Barnes would later quote Geer as saying, I dont want to get shot.
..[h]e was shot in fact shot- dead

Six paragraphs and no information, just empty rhetoric.
White males are suitable for police range practice in the United States of America.
Is White Virginia one of 0bama’s 57 States?
The real cases of police abuse are usually ignored.
Lives that don’t serve a ‘political purpose don’t matter.
PING. Here is a case that you should be interested in.
Only black thug lives matter.

I called, she said she didn't want to talk about it and hung up. I called again, she hung up, called again and a deputy answered. He started a lecture on harassment and I hung up on him.
A few minutes later the whole yard lit up with red and blue lights. I hit the switch and all the halogen floods came on. They were fanned out across the yard with their hands on gun butts.
The ex had given them the "he has guns" line.
That's all it takes, one pissed off drama queen.

P offed DQ can do nothing w/o a dumb putz.
Just advice, nothing personal.
One might think the “full information” new story would have been a better posting.
Advocacy journalism from any side is is tired and untrustworthy.
It doesn't appear any less damning than the advocacy journalism. Two other cops basically state that officer Torres shot Greer for no reason. As far as I can tell, other than a civil suit, no action has been taken against Torres.
Cop knew that there would be no outrage for killing Whitey. Whitey lives don’t matter.
Ok.
I looked at your “lovpcal news story”.
One- It was not a news story. It was follow up piece on the lawyer’s argument.
Two - “According to the records, one officer was talking to Greer, trying to ease him through the standoff...”
Stand-off?
The more info provided, the more it is not clear that the cops just decided to shoot him for no reason.
Don’t waste your typing, Right, Vig or SWAMPSNIPER - ifinnegan is a notorious FR police apologist.
This looks pretty clear cut, he murdered him, according to the rest of the officers.
So it was a "good shoot".
I think we're beginning to understand how the Japanese peasants in the pre-modern period felt just before a samurai decide to test their new katana on one of them.
"He had a bad day at the tea ceremony - "cut" him a break..."
It’s weird, the other cops say he shot him for no reason and seem totally open about it being a deliberate killing, yet the department did what the departments always do, started with a cover up.
Too bad ol' Belushi is not around now. He could do a skit about Special Forces Beat Cop, wherein the neighborhood, its dogs, and its residents are regularly laid waste every Saturday Night, Live!
