CPAC is more than forty years old now, so you want to begin your trailer with a tribute to prominent right-wingers of the past. There are quite a few names to choose from; of these, you pick seven.

What’s wrong with Helms? I’ve heard he was maybe a little patronizing to Blacks, but I’m sure that’s a lot better received than actual bigotry.

Jesse Helms ,I saw at an Airport in Germany ,I think it was 1993 or 4 ,I think he was with him wife ,did a lot of moving around ,LOL

Plugs was added to the ticket to add “Gravitas”, because Obama was such a lightweight on foreign policy - not to reinforce their already plentiful race-baiting ability.

Reagan only lost the 76 nomination because he decided to name a moderate as his veep choice, A Senator Schweiker or something. He had Iowa in the bag but the lead guy for Iowa switched to Ford when Reagan did that. That was enough to cost Reagan the nomination.

I met Senator Helms in the early 80’s. he was a very humble man who considered it a privilege to serve in the U.S Senate.
