The Abortion Distortion [Gruber: Abortion Reduces Crime!]
National Review ^ | January 02, 2015 | Mona Charen

JANUARY 2, 2015 The Abortion Distortion Jonathan Gruber’s thesis that abortion had led to a crime drop is cold and almost certainly false. By Mona Charen

Jonathan Gruber, sage of MIT and proud champion of the Affordable Care Act, may well have had the worst year in American public life. His repeated demonstrations of arrogance, contempt for the American people, and smug self-satisfaction brought mortification to his party and president.

His glib references to the redistributionist aspects of the Affordable Care Act gave the lie to the Democratic party’s dubious claim that the mandate was not a tax, along with the excruciating (to Democrats) acknowledgment that, presidential oaths to the contrary notwithstanding, Democrats regard “nontransparency” as their friend.

This same argument is made in the book “Freakonomics”, that crime rates fell in the 1990s because abortion eliminated unwanted children, especially among the poor.

For the sake of argument let’s accept his premise which boils down to abortion reduces crime, so abortion is good.

I would venture to guess that killing most black infant boys in single parent households would also reduce crime (since that’s who commits most crimes), so would that also be a good public policy?

Abortion is a crime, it doesn’t matter how much money the parents have or what color they are.

That was one of Maggie Sanger’s reasons for her eugenics program.

Exactly! Genocide reduces crime as well. Reducing a genus by 100% brings the crime rate to an insignificant number... [sarc]

It probably does.

That is hardly a reason to justify murdering people ten, fifteen, twenty years before they commit crimes. Before they take their first breath.

Also assumes their crime is so awful it negates any potential relative good their other actions as a person, don’t matter.

It’s an idiotic concept. With this logic they could just shoot innocent people and say in the future it’s likely they WOULD have committed crimes if we let them live. And since libtards are defining what crimes are, if you are an unapologetic white Christian, they’ll just off you now, ten, fifteen years before they say you’d do anything illegal.

Idiotic. Gruber’s the kind of person that when he says these kinds of idiotic statements, you immediately apply their idiotic logic statement to them, right there. As a warning to others.

Shows Gruber’s inner racist poking through. Since abortion kills many blacks, and blacks are inherently criminal, abortion reduces crime! < /libthink >

“Abortion is a crime, it doesn’t matter how much money the parents have or what color they are.”

Except, you know, it isn’t.

“Abortion was at best a minor factor in the reduction of inner city crime.”

Actually there was a massive crime wave in inner cities during the 90’s. This came about 15 plus years after a massive wave of welfare payments made to unwed mothers who during 70’s as a reward for cranking out babies.

So there was a big drop in teenage crime during the late 90’s. But this was mainly the result of the passing of a bumper crop of illegitimate inner city kids born in the late 70s, rather than any reduction due to abortions.

I was going to say that “IF” abortion is needed to lower crime rates, then all the democrat inner city programs and support are not working.
