MICHELLE OBAMA ONCE GOT ASKED FOR HELP AT TARGET, THINKS IT WAS PROBABLY RACIST By Emily Zanotti 12.17.14
Look. I honestly believe that yes, there are lingering vestiges of racism in our society. You don't exorcise something that pervasive in modern culture in less than a century. Occasionally - not regularly, but occasionally - we've all been known to make varying assumptions about other people based on existing stereotypes.
I have no doubt that, in their lifetimes, the Obamas have experienced lots of instances of discrimination based on skin color, and I think that's a tragedy. However, I do not think being asked to reach something on a high shelf at a big box retail store is one of those instances.
"I tell this story I mean, even as the first lady during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn't see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn't anything new," Michelle Obama, who is 5'11", said.
Frankly, speaking as someone who is, shall we say, a perfectly-formed miniature human being, sometimes we short people just need something off a really high shelf. And when that happens we have two choices: climb the flimsy Target infrastructure in pursuit of the comically-oversized budget bag of toilet paper and risk getting a concussion from Extra-Soft Charmin, or ask someone who is of normal human stature to reach it for us.

To Michelle and her husband the American way is the racist way and the wrong way. They hate what America stands for. They have warped minds and NEVER should have been elected dog catcher let alone President of the United States.
And our Marines - at least the white ones — have to hold umbrellas for the King.
I love this!
Are you "pretty tall" as in "tall in some degree", "moderately tall", "quite tall"...
or...
Are you pretty, and tall?
(Sorry, couldn't help wondering.)
THIS is the example she comes up with to illustrate what a...how did she put it?...”downright mean” country we are? That’s it?
LOL. have you seen ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’?
“I roll up my windows in the “bad” neighborhood...just in case a stray bullet comes my way.
Racist or wise?? “
Fearing black people, even dangerous violent coming straight at you is racist.
She was probably wearing red and with that big ass of hers she was hard to miss. So, it was easy to think she was an employee.
The allegations have gone fully into straight up full-blown psychological projection.
The Obama’s have been, and continue to be, the beneficiaries of America’s misguided tendency to apply affirmative action at every level. And they know it.
You know what is racist?
Assuming that when someone asks you for help, it is because you are black.
If anyone calls me a “little person” I will punch them in the knee!
If it had been just the two of us there and I were a faster thinker, that would have been perfect. But being Hawaii, an me a haole, I do try to maintain some decorum. Negros are not common here, but democrats are.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in almost 60 years of life. SO was the he-idiot's accusing people of racism because they mistook him for a valet and asked him to park their car.
RACE IS ALLLLLLLLL THAT BLACKS THINK OF 24/7/365, bank on it!
Do you ask Robert Reich and Tom Daschle to “Stand up” for America?
I’m a tall white female, and am always being asked to reach for something in the supermarket. Always happy to help. Skin color has nothing to do with it.
If I were walking down the street, and saw a group of black women ahead of me — no problem. Same with a group of older black men. And same with a mixed group of black men, women, teens or whatever. But if it is a couple or a group of hoodie kids with their underpants hanging out, and there is no one else around, - I will cross the street. Appearances do matter in a way, especially when there is a history that goes with it.
But that last bit does not match what I am about to say: I have eyes. I can see color. If I am talking with a white, brown, black or yellow person, I can see what color they are. But it is when they open their mouth and start talking, I can see the person for whom they are. Color has nothing to do with it.
I learned that quite well one time when — as an older woman, I was taking a college course. A tall white teen walked in. He was dressed all gothic, had earrings and his hair was swept in a way to get attention. I wondered what he was trying to show. It wasn’t long before I really liked this kid. His appearance - Goth culture to the nth degree, sure belied his personality. He was about the most conservative kid I’ve ever met. Friendly, fun — and very conservative. I learned not to judge by appearance.
Hanging pants and hoodies, tho — makes me think twice.
As it should.
They declined. :)
