So what? Even criminals are entitled to self defense and protected by the second amendment.
Or, given his health problems, he might have been just as dead.
“Sure there is. Eric Garner escalated it by resiting arrest.
You dont get to disobey a police officer, sorry.”
Can you imagine what would happen in the ‘hood if a cop were to back down from someone resisting arrest? How quickly would the word spread? How quickly would all hell break loose?
Intent is not a requirement for an involuntary manslaughter charge. Which is what occurred.
No, I can’t imagine that, but it seems like that’s what people want in recent times.
I was taught to show deference and respect, even if I think I’m right, and that’s what I have done in my life. and that is what i expect other to do.
I do not wish this man died. I wish he lived. I don’t want to see someone die, even if they are wrong.
But I do not excuse his behavior and blame someone who does not deserve to be blamed.
No, it isn’t because you cannot prove that any action of the police CAUSED his death.
A cop and his buddies lay hands on me like they did Garner, they'd best kill me. Or keep one eye open at night for a very long time.
This is what it's like to live in FascistLand.
Staten Island DA Daniel Donovan didnt include reckless endangerment charge as option to Eric Garner grand jury: WNBC

In this day and age I would not want to be a cop if they paid me a million a year, or a soldier for that matter.
For them to go back to being appreciated, they should go on one day strike - I think that would be enough to get the message across.
Sure we give cops a lot of power over us, and I’m all for oversight and a tight leash, but what’s happened lately is abuse of the highest order, while the criminals are getting coddled.
So what?
Would a wreckless endangerment charge change the result of Garner’s decision?
Nope.
Says the man who premeditates murder.
You would deserve your fate.
I agree, and I am not for police abusing power at all.
I really do not see that they did so in this case, or any recent publicized case for that matter.
Who said anything about murder? Just a nice, thoughtful blanket party would do the trick...
BTW - you think maybe that Declarationists like me should wear identifying stars, or something, so's "the authoritays" know the extent of the problem?
We have deep issues with truckling to the King's Men, unlike some others... LOL! :)
So suddenly you're a legal expert, even though you can't spell the name of the alternate charge? LOL! :)
You implied it, psychopath.
Beyond that, bug off, your meaningless internet bluster is annoying and stupid.
NYC has had several taser deaths in recent years. Somebody like Garner with his health problems would have been a risk.
Misspellings happen. I’m sure you’ll find a way to get over it, even though you can’t bring the dead guy back LOL! :)
Too bad, so sad.
Two stores down is a mom and pop grocery store. They sell cigarettes. Most likely they are the ones who complained.
There's a mom and pop store everywhere on Staten Island, from the looks of it.
Sounds like the cops made it up after the fact, as is their wont. The guy who testified before the grand jury said that he was across the street in the park with Officer Pairapanties, watching Garner break up a fight. He thought Pairapanties was going to collar the two fighters, who were skedaddling, but Pairapanties went after Garner instead.
You can hear Garner's buddy, who was filming, keep saying that Garner was breaking up a fight.
I think Union Boy was going to teach the peasant a lesson, knew who he was from past experience, and gigged him for an imaginary violation.
Show me the cigarettes. Or did the cops have some throw-down "loosies"...? LOL! :)
Thanks for playing!
