So Darius Rucker sings "White Christmas" during NBC's Rockerfeller Center tree lighting show and (probably most likely liberal) ignorance strikes again.
"Surreal," "ironic," "awkward," "total fail," are just a few of the words used in tweets (from the Twitchy link above) describing the performance.
Perhaps it's inevitable that the further away we get from certain pop culture iconography the more out of touch the current generation becomes with it. That must be the case here...it has to be. (for the sake of my sanity I'm just going to keep telling myself this)
One of the most famous disasters in history, the sinking of the Titanic, was just a movie to a bunch of teenagers who apparently need to be introduced to Google (a history book is preferable but look at what we have to work with)
It's not just kids...remember what happened when Sarah Palin wanted to party like it's the year of the Boston Tea Party?
Umm indeed Gwen...
That has to be why you have people who view themselves as the smartest in the room thinking the song "White Christmas" is the KKK's national anthem instead of a song about wishing for snow in the wintertime...on Christmas Day.
This is one of those damned if you do damned if you don't moments. What did the idiots on twitter want Darius to sing?
"Jingle Bells?"
"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth?"
"I'm dreaming of a crack Christmas?" Would that be less "surreal" for these ignorant-race-baiting jack-holes?
I didn't watch the show, but I have in the past, the performance of "White Christmas" is supposed to be the capstone of the evening and these miserable fools robbed (or at least tried to) Rucker of that honor.
Skid Markos is still around?
Recent winters should convince people that “White Christmas” is about snow.
I guess the ignorant were not niggardly in their criticism.
All snow is white. Snow is racism. Mother Nature is a racist.
The ghetto-ization effect of technology and media fragmentation seems to be erasing our American culture just as quickly as the ruling-class elites in DC are erasing our borders.
Anyone remember 35 years ago when blacks were demanding all black people wish each other a “Black Christmas”?
Didn’t they know that the song was written by some Jewish guy named Irv in Berlin ;?
And that this composer also wrote that racist, jingoistic theme “God Bless America” ....
Assistant: Name?
Third Prisoner: Garrett Johnson.
Director: It says here, Mr. Johnson, that you are serving a life sentence for first degree murder and insulting an officer of the law.
Third Prisoner: That’s right.
Director: What are you going to do for us today?
Third Prisoner: I’ve been in dolitary for years now, and I’ve studied and developed my talent for writing music, and I’ve written lots of songs. Here’s a song I’m gonna sing which is the sum of my philosophy. [ sings ]
“I’m gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see,
I’m gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see.
When I kill all the whities I see, then whitey he won’t bother me,
I’m gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see.
Then I’ll get a white woman who’s wearing a navy blue sweater..”
[ Guards pull him away ]
I belong to AFTRA!
Director: Wonderful sense of rhythm.
MUST-FIGHT-URGE-TO-WATCH-HOLIDAY INN! Especially the Lincoln birthday black face song.
That’s racissss!
Lefties should LOVE White Christmas.
Irving Berlin wrote it, because he HATED Christmas, and wanted a popular secular Christmas song to de-emphasize Christ in Christmas, and he knew creating popular secular Christmas songs was one of the best ways of going about it.
Anybody who says the song “White Christmas” is racist, is insane.
Darius Rucker is not your typical black militant. He’s just a black American.
He doesn’t inject race into every aspect of every daily activity. Thats why he had no qualms about singing White Christmas. Race never crossed his mind.
Only those who see race in EVERY LITTLE THING will complain about this.
Watch out where the huskies go ...
Yellow snow is racist. It should be called .... um, something something ...
