Humane Research Council report reveals there are very few vegetarian Americans. And five our of six return to meat at some point.
The wheatgrass isnt always greener on the other side of the food fence.
A new study by the animal-friendly Humane Research Council reveals that 84% of vegetarians and vegans return to consuming our farm friends and the animal rights world is terrified.
Its obviously a negative for animals, Che Green, executive director of the Humane Research Council, tells the Daily News.
The meaty stats come from the first comprehensive study of current and former vegetarians and vegans conducted by Greens group and Harris Interactive.
The survey of more than 11,000 adults revealed that only 2% of Americans dont consume meat at all. And 88% have never been vegetarians or vegans.

True that, but allah got all kinds of peeved when God offered it to him.
I guess even allah draws the line at cannibalism...
I've heard it was like that in some parts of the country, but here in the Northeast, nobody gives a rat's ass if you're a vegetarian. Plus, people who keep kosher will often eat vegetarian in restaurants.
My two daughters and my niece all went through a vegetarian phase beginning in high school that lasted through their early 20's. Never strict vegetarians, just for a time disgusted by the thought of eating flesh. They all still ate chicken stock, etc. Of the three, only my niece is still a vegetarian. But neither daughter eats much beef - pretty much they stick with chicken.
My wife thinks ham too closely resembles human flesh and still won't eat it, though she cooks it for us on Christmas and Easter. I love ham, but that much sodium raises my blood pressure, but I figure twice a year won't kill me.
Goes to show you that a humans digestive tract is most like... a DOG!
Very high in stomach acid, few, or even only one enzyme to convert carbs, hey it is what it is!
Adolf Hitler never waivered in his vegetarian lifestyle. And he neither smoked nor drank.
The wording of the title of this thread is MOST unfortunate.

Penny: I’m a vegetarian. Well, except for fish, and the occasional steak. I love steak!

So just like queers, this is a relatively small group of boneheads that has to get under everyone’s skin with their special type of evangelizing.
I never saw a lion that ate only grass.
Au contraire! SPAM is also a critical delicacy for the discriminating taste. I submit SPUSHI as proof.....[seaweed wrapped spam slice - spushi]
BBQ. Nothing kills that vegan ideology like the smell of BBQ. I’ve seen more than one vegan destroyed standing next to a BBQ grill.
My sister is in that category. Did not take her long to figure out that it is very difficult to adequately supply yourself with nutrients unless you really know what you are doing as a vegetarian.
What is the difference between “vegan” and “vegetarian?”
therefore, all vegans are homosexual!
Because you’ll go blind, Daily News?
I will eat fish, particularly Salmon with its omega 3 benefits, but I have not have meat or fowl since 1991. I have outlived by dad and grandfather by 10 years and my last scan showed very clean and open arteries. I don’t preach and tell people what to do, but it works for me and I do not miss meat at all.
Food like milk and eggs. Vegans won't even "enslave" animals for their food.
The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.
The cow is sacred in our family.
We worship at the barbecue alter.
“BBQ. Nothing kills that vegan ideology like the smell of BBQ.”
When I was a teen back in the ‘70s, my mother cooked the equivalent of a full Thanksgiving diner in the middle of July. Moms can be so smart and sneaky. That was the end of ever trying to be a vegetarian again...that and a college class in nutrition.
Vegetarian -
Old Indian word for ‘poor hunter’
