The “Virtually impossible” assumes:
That the current state of our knowledge is all there is;
That the best way to travel interstellar distances is by using chemical, nuclear, solar, or electrical propulsion;
That the solar system we see today is static and not dynamic as is every other ‘organism’ in existence;
That the putative alien species is not already here and has been for eons;
That the putative aliens did not arise in this solar system millions or billions of years ago, because only Earth supports life as we define it today;
That you do not know who James Clerk Maxwell is, nor why he is the ‘father’ of all modern physics, nor what his field theories proved possible.
Same incentive as those who donate to FR - common interest and a place to "gather" for it.
Or maybe Fermi was right?
One of the videos shows that he also has a vodka brand. He may not have to work, but he is still busy. That’s a good thing.
I just watched “Fire In The Sky” and liked it, kind of. Personally I believe only man was created in God’s image but doesn’t mean others weren’t created. I enjoyed C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy. The fact that Satan lives here would keep most intelligent beings at a distance.
I understand the “shared” aspect of it, which is what I assumed it to be. But recently, I’ve been reading about for-profit ventures where people are asking for this start-up money like a venture capitalist would, but I don’t see where they are paying back the investors. Are people donating to these start-up businesses without expecting a return? Am I misunderstanding?
He’s mostly coherent in this one, but hits all the leftist talking points (aliens are concerned about what we’re doing to the environment, that humans have been turning this planet into a cinder for 100 years, mentions the then-current war in Iraq at least twice in the first 20 or so minutes, etc). Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.

I watched that years ago, and was impressed by one scene in particular, which showed the alien critter doing the exams was actually in an encounter suit, which being identical (but for size) on the exterior gave the impression that the critters themselves are basically identical.

I’m familiar with the area Travis an his friends were logging the night he was abducted. It’s part of my stomping grounds. Lots of weird stuff in the sky around here. Some of it on the ground.
I guess the area isn’t only your stomping grounds. Is it still secluded? When I can I am going to read his books.
Dan you ignorant slut....
Though more people have moved to this region, it is still has some of the most remote areas in the lower 48. So yes, it’s still quite secluded.
Won’t be that way to much longer if the EPA gives approval for the underground alien base expansion. (Lol)
LOL
Fermi dismissed the most obvious answer - they're hiding. The same level of technology that could bring them here in the first place across light years would make such hiding easy.
And I believe there are far more reasons for them to hide than reveal themselves. Research is always worthwhile. Involvement and political relations are definitely not.
Strangers in the Night is a great live album.
