When he challenged President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast, Dr. Ben Carson, neurosurgeon extraordinaire, became an overnight sensation in conservative circles. Here was a super-accomplished African American man who dared to serve as a culturally conservative counterbalance to the most Left-wing president in the modern era.

I hope he finds a more productive way of promoting conservative ideas than running for president. That circus act is already promising to be a Charlie Foxtrot. Everyone wants to be king of the hill without paying the price to get there, like Obama.
This is pure instinct.
I was curious and stopped to watch him.
No support.
Ben Carson is no Thomas Sowell.
I’ve never understood the fascination with this guy in terms of presidential timber.
Agree with your entire post.
Carson is not a friend of liberty in general.
.
Because a high percentage of FReepers are low information weather vanes.
.
There a lot of things about neurosurgery I’ll never understand. There are some things about the second amendment Dr. Carson will never understand. The difference is, I’m not proposing to do surgery.
Are you saying that he was a Democrat before now??
and he wants to become President now??
Is this a joke??
bump
A Political FLASH in the PAN.....Good person,,,,NOT Presidential at all.
Dr Carson is unwilling to study history, and doesn’t believe in the Founder’s wisdom with regard to the 2nd Amendment.
Dr Carson is unwilling to do the tough work of running for an office he could actually get elected to in order to gain valuable experience.
He seems to want to run for a donor-funded popularity tour to monetarily enrich himself, knowing that he has zero chance of ever being elected president, but a great chance of raising his speaker fees and the price of any subsequent book contracts.
Campaigns like this are a distraction. They waste time, donor cash, effort, and momentum.
It’s been done, and the only ones to benefit are the “candidates” and their handlers.
No thanks.
So, when he doesn’t make it past the primaries, will he switch back to independent, or to democrat, like Charlie Christ in Florida?
I think I’d like to have somebody running and winning that was conservative for 10 years or more, and not a “Johnny come lately”. I’d feel a lot more secure voting for someone like that, than a late convert.
No. Never.
Ben, you blew it on your 2nd Amendment waffling.
Now, even if you change your position, you cannot be trusted.
So, no. Never.
Doesn’t he need to be a congress-critter first?
I could see him as an advisor but definitely NOT President.
If Ben Carson weren’t black, no one would pay him any heed.
He’s shaky on the 2nd amendment.
He’s tainted by other unknown leftist leanings.
He’s a 7th day Adventist.
[from CARM]”The Seventh-day Adventist church is a controversial organization. With its founding prophetess, Ellen G White, they teach that the proper day of worship is Saturday, that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, that ultimately Satan will bear all of our sins, that when a person dies he does not exist anymore, that hell is not eternal, and more. They emphasize dietary laws and what many consider to be a legalism, especially since they teach you can lose your salvation”
Satan will bear our sins? The Bible says that Jesus Christ bore our sins.
“so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many” (Hebrews 9:28a)
The bible teaches salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9). The gift of God is eternal life (not temporary life) and “we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession” (Ephesians 1:13,14)
He would have the bully pulpit to preach his damnable false gospel.
We should not vote for someone just because he is black. We’ve made this mistake already with Obama.
A lot of people would vote for him just to try and “prove” they’re no racists ( just like with Obama).
You won’t know what’s in his candidacy until you vote on him...sounds familiar.
When he waffled on the 2nd, I shut the door...hard.
Fool me once shame on him, fool me twice and my America is in JEAPORDY.
I have no interest in Carson for president. Head of Health and Human services. Yes. Cabinet member Yes. President. No.
Dr. Ben is in my top five now.
“This may indeed be true and I truly like and respect the man, however, he has left-over liberal/socialist ideas that prevent me from supporting him, i.e. read what he had to say about Trayvon Martin, gun rights, crime and law enforcement, etc.”
I couldn’t agree more. He is a nice gentleman. Very charming and charismatic. Also very naive.
If people would listen to the things he says in interviews, they would understand that he has many positions that are just not conservative. Perhaps someday, but certainly not now. He can grow and hopefully he will grow into electable material. He isn’t there yet.
He is naive on many issues.
We need a solid conservative in ‘16, one who can handle the MSM and abuse and come out the victor. We need someone with enough spine who will overturn the damage Obama has done. Spine and solid convictions will win the day. Few candidates are up to that task.
We need to find such a person, unite in support early in the primary to defeat the Rovian, GOPe choice.
I love Cruz, but I disagree with him on some important issues. I love the fire in his belly. I love his refusal to allow the Democrats and Rovians to prevail. There is much to admire.
I’m looking at Sessions. He is a good solid man with a provable track record. He is solidly against spending. He would and could wipe out so many of the big government agencies that simply work against our freedom. He is also solidly against amnesty in all of its hydra forms. He is a quiet man, but strong in his convictions.
We need to be vetting these candidates now so that we can unite behind one for victory in ‘16. If we fail to do that, we will end up with the GOPe choice for our nominee.
We’ll need a strong ground game so that our choice can counteract the multi-millions of $$$ that are sure to be backing the GOPe choice.
He also wants to tamper and tweak the ACA, not get rid of it.
