How many times can Cory Gardner explain that his answer to a government shutdown is absolutely not? We may not know the actual ceiling on that, but not for lack of effort from the Morning Joe crew. The newly-elected Senator from Colorado explains that a mature governing body should not have that on its radar at all, and instead emphasizes that Republicans took control of the Senate in order to expedite solutions, not obstruct the process.
Gardner suggests that obstruction will come from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Democrats tried hard to paint the GOP as the Party of No ever since they lost control of the House in 2010. That attack didnt stick, though, in part because the House did pass a number of bills on issues that actually mattered to voters the economy, job creation, controlling government spending, and so on. That message got stepped on a bit a year ago in the budget standoff that resulted in targeted agency shutdowns, and GOP polling reflected it right up until the ObamaCare rollout turned so disastrous that people forgot about Republican attempts to use the budget to stop it.

Dear Mr. (Saxophonist),
Thank you for contacting me regarding President Obama's recent executive orders. I appreciate you taking the time to write. It is an honor to serve you in Congress and I hope you will continue to write with your thoughts and ideas on moving our country forward.
Executive orders have a long history in the United States, beginning with issuances by George Washington and continuing through every President since. In response to the recent tragedies in Connecticut, President Obama has proposed numerous executive orders aimed at curbing future violence through strict gun control. I do not agree with many of the policies announced by the President and will diligently work to overturn these misguided reactions.
While I do not agree with many of the President's policies, nor share his vision for this country, I do not believe articles of impeachment are the right course of action. It is important that conservatives remain united in the fight to uphold our 2nd Amendment and promote solutions rooted in legislative deliberation. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House to enact legislation or pursue legal action reversing these executive orders and to protect responsible gun ownership for our citizens. Please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as we consider this issue in the 113th Congress.
Again, thank you for contacting me, and do not hesitate to do so again when an issue is important to you.
Sincerely,
Cory Gardner
Member of Congress
Getting rid of Udall is a victory, but getting Gardner is not a victory.
Mark Levin is now excoriating Cory.He is reading article one of the Constitution.
Explaining to Cory, the powers of the Congress.
It took this doosh 10 days to ‘grow in office’.
Cory, ya punk, we want you to go there and give them a bloody nose and some missing teeth. Broken bones are good too.
We don’t care if you want to behave in a mature matter.
Voted for you but it looks like the first and last time.
Gardner is a RINO. At least he looks the part of a RINO.
It is worse when have a “tough guy” like Coffman or Gowdy or Issa someone pushing RINOisms.
Then they have to counter to regular joes like Steve King and Jeff Sessions; and true firebrands like Rohrabacher or Steve Stockman.
I think Jane Norton losing in 2010 was a good thing if she was even worse than Gardner. There’d still be a delayed majority.
Norton is a nobody. Buck is in the House of Reps and no conservative is going to take Gardner seriously.
Translation:The Tea Parties did it. Not only had they threatened establishment Republicans with primary opposition, but they had actually beaten one two three of them. Nothing like fresh heads on pikes to, er, reinforce a persuasive (to my mind) policy argument. Score one for losing Delaware Tea Partier Christine ODonnell, who knocked off establishment pick Rep. Mike Castle (who voted for DREAM) in the GOP primary. Even score one for Alaskan Joe Miller. He probably alienated Republican Lisa Murkowski by beating her in the primary, and ultimately she won reelection anyway as a write-in. But thats just one lost Senate vote. By my count, Millers primary coup may have helped gain around tenvotes by terrifying GOP incumbents who might otherwise have been tempted by the prospect of a feel-good, bipartisan, MSM-approved pro-DREAM stand.
Archimedes once said, “Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth.”
These Republicans give up any leverage they might have up front, every time.
The world’s worst negotiators and leaders.
He is actually correct if you read what he said. Just saying.
