After the astounding victories by Republicans last night, it was only a matter of time until liberals tried to make sense of it all, while still not admitting that they were defeated.
Rachel Maddow of MSNBC earned the gold medal for mental gymnastics last night, however, by claiming that Democrats won the argument when it came to their policies by losing the Senate.
This sentiment was then echoed on Rachel Maddows MSNBC blog, in a post titled, A Win? Yes. A Mandate? No.
The piece says that, with an overwhelming victory, Republicans will say the election was an endorsement from the American people that affords them the right to pursue their top priorities.
Smugly, the piece retorts, Its a nice argument, which happens to be wrong.
The piece then states that Republicans have no issues other than Ebola-stricken terrorists in Mexico.

LOL! uh, yeah, nice try.
Loon. Certifiable loon.
My God, they are delusional...
Bitchslapped into reality... and yet...
sigh...
It made the evening so entertaining!
Was the argument “we suck”?
“Your arm’s off.”
“No, it isn’t.”
Rachel was going on and on last night about some small point—I can’t remember exactly what it was—grasping at straws, spinning desperately, trying to find some silver lining in the booming thunderclouds. It was amusing to watch.
“MSNBCs Maddow: Republicans Won the Senate, But Democrats Won the Argument”
And both people who watch his show fervently believe that!
I saw Chris Matthews making evil faces at Maddow when I tuned in. Absolutely priceless! I had to turn the channel when Rev. Charlatan came on.
Absolutely incredible. Positively delusional. It was like hearing Radio Berlin announce that the Fuhrer's final master plan for a crushing victory shall now be revealed, never mind that advance guard Russian paratroopers are hunting zebras and giraffes in the Berlin Zoo for amusement as the massive wave of the Red Army closes in.
Chris Hayes, Al Sharpton, and some other liberal chickie were all nodding their heads in agreement with her, but Chris Matthews sat there like a stone with his arms folded across his chest with a look on his face as if to say "These three kids and that idiot Sharpton have absolutely no idea what they're saying...".
Two weeks ago liberals were bemoaning -- correctly -- that Obama is nothing more than a disconnected aloof golfer who's letting the election go to hell from disinterest. Doesn't he even CARE?! ... and now, Rachel Maddow is convinced that Obama is going to emerge from the ashes like a phoenix, go into beast mode, and fight back the GOP assault on America.
Rachel Maddow is one true fanatic believer, I'll say that for her.
By the way, Chris Hayes needs a little tuxedo, a top hat, and monocle to finish off his ventriloquist dummy look. Sit him on Rachel's knee and combine their two lousy shows.
Then again she may be correct if the new GOP congress tries to govern from the center left by reaching across the aisle and cooperating with Democrats.
Why bother with what MadCow tells her thirteen or so remaining viewers?
I watched it for maybe 5 minutes tops, even after laughing my ass off at them, the sight of their bitter, ugly faces, going on and on about how white people are evil when they themselves are white LOL was just too much to stomach
Doublethink is what Orwell called it in 1984.
With all that being said, at least we do know who really wears the pants at MSNBC!
Update: Angus King (I - Maine) has basically just said he will caucus with GOP
Cool. Too bad about Manchin. I hope the GOP presents him with an offer he can’t refuse.
You know Angus King is an Independant so he can ride the fence
and caucus with whomsoever wins, but as long as he vote with us I guess
(not because of the color of his skin, but because of the content of his character).
Until it proves it can(and will)elect a TRUE traditional social/fiscal conservative(nationally)..I'll stay worried for it's future.
...but for today, I'm going to enjoy what happened last night, hoping it ushers in at least some...sanity...perhaps it's just a STOP or Going-The-Wrong-Way sign... before heading off a cliff.
...it's better than nothing.
Hey I'm a realist, unless there is an effort to institute an "affirmative action" type call for "balance" in media/academia...this(and other)"victories" will be short-lived.
Youth has been served a steady diet of leftist gruel...time to offer an alternative to the slop they've been fed.
It wasn't nothing. It was "Stop Obama!"
Now we need to help shape the implementation of that platform.
Yes, the vote is the most important thing since the GOP has outright control. Manchin’s vote will be nice as well and it will be in his best interest to vote with the GOP, esp. on energy policy, or else he’ll pay for it.
