As you may have noticed, I'm a newbie.....but not really.
I'll explain. I was a newbie to Free Republic.....well over ten years ago. Actually, I was a Lurker for a while before becoming a newbie over ten years ago.
Yes, I know. According to my account, I'm 3 days old in Freeper years, but I'm not. I'll explain.
My account was compromised. My previous account, that is, and so I had to create a new Freeper identity.
I've made a few discoveries upon creating my new old identity. Unless I'm mistaken, and it has been well over tens years since creating my old old account, I've noticed that everything I post, whether it's a thread or a comment, must first be approved by the Mods. As a matter of fact, this very post will be reviewed before publishing. I can understand and appreciate the vetting process, but can anyone explain the duration of this probation period? Is there anyone out there who can tell me when this probation process was first incorporated?
In closing, I'd like to say to all my fellow Freepers; I look forward to your smart arse remarks, witty comments, and general hospitality. To all you Trolls/posers who prance around and throw little "troll!" and "newbie!" accusations, I'll hit the snore button until you've finished ranting.
Let's get er done tomorrow, Freepers.
God Bless you all, Mortimer St. Hubbins
Free Republic is a house, not the public square. Just a fact.
How many fingers am I holding up?
I signed up in early 2008 and I still remember that my first 10 to 12 posts took a long, long time to be recorded on the thread.
I imagine the same is true today.
If you are REALLY a St. Hubbins then you will be able to name at least three of the traditional activities associated with St. Hubbins’ Day.
My original sign up date was March 10, 2001.
I got banned for calling Islam a gutter religion.
St. Hubbins, the patron saint of quality footwear.
Look at me !!!
im here
It was pretty awesome, especially the marquee thing.
Life was a lot simpler back then.
I had a photo of myself on my about page, and anarchists disseminated it so as to target me at protests during the Al Gore "get out of Dick Cheney's house" era. Happened to others too, in Norcal.
Weren't we all!!!!
Its your IP address (or similar one), plus the browser and operating system you use, etc., that easily fingerprints you. If you signed up via a new ISP, with a different computer and different browser, and didn’t out yourself as a formerly banned FReeper, no one would know or care, but you brought it on yourself.
1) How many walkers have you killed?
2) How many people have you killed?
3) Why?
My first thought!
Well, there was no vetting process back in the day, and had no idea one was instituted.
Learn sumptin new every day.
Are you logged in?
I remember those days when FReepers were actually civil to each other. Now people get on and muck up the threads with their bad moods and pettiness.
So I’ll repeat:
What was your handle before?
Was actually poking fun at how old timers reminisce about the old times, but certainly know what you mean. 1986 is well before FR ;-P
About 7 or 8 years ago a newbie signed up and started posting porn pics, I mean really sick porn picks about 3 am. There was no moderators on duty. they stayed up for a couple hours before someone got ahold of JR by phone to take them down.
LOL on the hamster
