Brittany Maynard, the Oregon woman who had become an outspoken advocate for patients' rights following her terminal cancer diagnosis, died on Saturday, the Oregonian reported. She was 29.

"Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love," she wrote in a Facebook post, according to People. "Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness... the world is a beautiful place, travel has been my greatest teacher, my close friends and folks are the greatest givers... goodbye world. Spread good energy. Pay it forward!"

Earlier this year, Maynard learned that she was suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma and had only six months to live. After hearing what the disease would to her body in its final stages, she decided that she wanted to die on her own terms.

No one survives her brain cancer....from first diagnosed ....and treated....very few make 18 months

Most die by 6 months

Not terribly painful...the brain has no pain receptors

But very debilitating with at times utter personality transformation including uncontrolled terror depending on where the nebula tentacles travel before they get to death motor tissue

Of course...none of that means anything to the scorched earth sweeties on this forum

The usuals...several I expected to see here....and they did not disappoint

I’m not one to tell a young lady in the flower of her life how to die when mine is nearly over after six decades

I tell you plainly....some folks who post here are real live nasty nasty unhappy without a life of their own bitter ugly folks

But that is the nature of most internet forums...which is why they are here...we are their only friends and targets...often at the same time..lol

But here the most vile never ever disclose personal info....you never know who they really are

Not directed at u fungi....just 14 years here watching same old same old

I wish anyone young dies hard...peace.

Who actually wants to be relegated to the status of a child? It’s quite rude. Just because you consider something to be compliment doesn’t mean it is. You didn’t even know this woman. That’s kinda odd, if not downright creepy?

Ok Revolutionary Barbie... Thanks. It’s not my job to change decades old idioms to make sure you are happy. It’s your job to adjust to the geezers. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

The only difference between her and the suicide bombers is that bombing part.

Moron.

I don't know why she went public.

I don't know what living was like for her.

I do know that I am not arrogant enough to make pronouncements about her suicide. A loving God understands these things better than I ever could.

I've watched elderly relatives go downhill. This society hides death from view and a lot of us know little about the reality.

That was very thoughtful and compassionate. That kind of talk will get you in trouble if you aren’t careful.

You’re absolutely right. At first I believed she was being exploited. But...

This young woman turned herself into the poster child for the suicide pill movement. And she willingly lent her name to a suicide group’s fundraising efforts.

She could’ve chosen to lend her name to a cause to find a cure for this type of cancer. But, no... she lent her name to a pro-death cause. She said she wanted pro-suicide laws to extend to other states.

Other patients with the same kind of cancer wrote articles, trying to talk her into changing her mind about her “cause.” Did she ever show one iota of compassion for them, her fellow cancer patients, many of whom oppose those same pro-suicide laws?

We all may feel sorry for this young woman. That doesn’t mean everything she said and did is above criticism. Her decision to go public and to use her story to advance a suicide advocacy group’s agenda could affect us all. Let’s hope it doesn’t go any further.

I’ve never heard anybody ever refer to a grown woman as a “little girl”. I think that you’re being really disrespectful to this WOMAN. I’m not the only one who took issue with your inaccurate and stupid statement. You need to stop being so emotional.

Ms. Maynard bot only was fully conscious of her act, she also broadly publicized it for the further aggrandizement of an act that is one of desperation and self murder. It was not only an act that was likely wrong, it was also raveled in by those who participated in it bringing great publicity to an evil enterprise, intentional self murder.

So, Dr C-Town, you've got the cure for glioblastoma, right? Cancer be damned!

Gee, if you had been there on 9/11, I'm sure you could have rescued those jumpers, just like that! Allah be damned!

You need to STFU!

Her last words are very secular. “Spread good energy”...what is that? Doesn’t seem to me like she was a Christian. That saddens me the most. That she would go into enternity as a sinner.

Poor girl. (I say “girl” because honestly, I was still rather immature at 29, and it sounds as though she might have been also.) Glioblastoma is indeed an ugly way to die (I had a friend who got it), and I can see why she feared it. Most of all, she may have feared losing “herself” since it was a brain tumor and could have affected her thinking (in addition to the seizures and the very severe headaches). I worry about “assisted dying” becoming too common, and people being pressured to check out when they don’t want to, but I have sympathy for this poor young woman in her dire strait. RIP.

Not from Texas I see, are ya? The term is common to a certain generation there. And i don’t know how to break this to you, but this demographic is actually a tad pleased when they offend you. And also Im guessing a 93 model? And its also obvious you have no idea how fun it is to watch you spin up about it. I’ll use the term little girl as I see fit. I don’t bend to you nutty speech czars.

So, you expect everybody to know everything about your Texan phrases? The ones that are specific to your generation? How unreasonable. I have no idea what you’re talking about for most of your post. It seems to be some of the pointless ramblings that I hear “old geezers” are prone to. I am pretty sure I never said that you couldn’t use the term. I originally thought you were a little confused or just couldn’t find your reading glasses.
