The Times columnist suggests a government crackdown for selling conservative books too quickly.
Big-government aficionado Paul Krugman is calling for public action to curb the power of an entity he cant quite bring himself to call a monopoly, even as he nonetheless compares its abuses to those of John D. Rockefellers Standard Oil company. The subject of his ire? Amazon.com, the giant online retailer, has too much power, and it uses that power in ways that hurt America, Krugman whines.
Does Amazon really have robber-baron-type market power? When it comes to books, definitely, Krugman insists. Amazon overwhelmingly dominates online book sales, with a market share comparable to Standard Oils share of the refined oil market when it was broken up in 1911. Even if you look at total book sales, Amazon is by far the largest player.

Awesome. They’re opening a distribution center down the street from us so we’ll be able to keep a close eye on those subversive right wing nut job/package handlers. LOL!
DOH!
Are the aliens from outer space running Amazon?
And does Krugman have a problem with the fact that his own written works are available for purchase on Amazon, too.
What is wrong with him?!
Awesome. Most anti-capitalists in the past have always gone the “they’re killing the Mom and Pop brick and mortar shops” bleat. If they ever ordered from Amazon with any frequency that an awful lot of the inventory they advertise, sell and drop ship are from exactly that.
So, now with the M&P B&M excuse seemingly gone, they complain about Amazon BUILDING a brick and mortar store.
You gotta love em. Can’t shoot em.
Mr. Kugelman (more than a few noodles short of a full casserole) either doesn’t wish to admit or is blind to considering that this phenomenon is due to the fact that Conservatives disproportionately actually read books.
What happened .. his book didn’t sell ..??????
So .. he’s blaming Amazon ..??????
Oh, that is just terrible!
What happened? A book he wrote not selling well?
Oh! The Horror!
You can probably find straight jackets for sale on Amazon, Paul. Look into it!
Compared to Barnes and Nobles that has a nearly exclusive contract to sell Michael Savage’s new book “How to Stop the Coming Civil War”, where many liberal employees hide the books or bury it or don’t restock it after it sells out - despite the publisher having paid for front placement.
So liberal conspiracy to suppress a conservative book in that case.
And this is on top of the New York Times not counting better selling conservative books, thus denying them the “NYT best seller” status.
Ever since I had a stroke a year ago, I have not been able to drive. I love Amazon. It has almost everything and delivers right to my door.
It is a phenomenal company. It started by selling books out of Jeff Bezos' garage and has grown to the retail behemoth it is today selling just about everything
Perhaps that is Krockman's problem. Like most Liberals he just cannot abide success, especially when it results from the ideas of one visionary.
Krugman is an incurable libtard. And liberalism is a mental disorder.
Krugman better pray the New York Times doesn’t figure out that conservative America is the only literate segment of society left. I mean a newspaper is for, well, reading and only secondarily for lining birdcages and wrapping fish.
He should be very very afraid that the shareholders who control the voting class shares in that company might do something crazy to boost circulation...maybe even something drastic like assuming a more conservative (actually probably libertarian— avoid the nasty social issues) editorial stance.
Kroogers goes Crackers...
Mr. Krugman, can you please tell us how Amazon forces its customers to buy Conservative books preferentially over Liberal books? Do they send Liberal customers Conservative books when they order Liberal books, forcing them to pay for them, refusing to refund and restock the returned items? Do they send unordered Conservative titles to Liberal and Moderate readers, forcing them to accept them? Please, we really want to know how Amazon accomplishes this forced consumption of Conservative content.
If we could learn this amazing AMAZON secret, we could apply this to the mainstream media, universities, colleges, and our K through twelve schools. It would be a Godsend solution for us.
What's that smell? Sour grapes, fear or defeat? They all smell like liberalism to me...
