When radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Dr. Ben Carson if he would accept the U.S. surgeon general nomination from President Barack Obama, the famous neurosurgeon was definitive in his response.
No, no, Carson replied immediately. Because if I would, if I were going to serve in that position, I would have to serve under someone that I trusted.
Hewitt pressed further: If he said I will not interfere with the guidance you give, we need someone to rally the country around being calm and appropriately prepared, youd really, youd say no to the president of the United States?
Yes, absolutely, Carson said.
Im shocked, Hewitt added.
My respect for Dr. Carson remains strong.

“... I would have to serve under someone that I trusted.”
in any and all circumstances
I like Carson on just about everything except guns. And that is a biggie for me.
Though, honorable as he is...he would have turned it down.
That would have been my call as well. Trust is HUGE!
I can’t believe Hewitt is that shocked. Obama is a compulsive liar. The ice berg has already hit the Titanic. Why would he assume command at this point?
I hear ya. And there are probably some other issues as well. But I like the man and respect him. Not sure about his qualifications for the presidency yet, but as Surgeon General or head of Health and Human Services, Dr. Carson would be a valuable asset to any administration.
id rather not do any business with anyone I coudn’t trust.
how racess of me...
That says it all about 0bama.
Hewitt is such a RINO fool. I’m sure he was trying to bait Carson to help Jeb Bush.
... I would have to serve under someone that I trusted.
....................
this is actually pretty common sense.
This follow-up by Hugh is just plain silly.
If he said I will not interfere with the guidance you give, we need someone to rally the country around being calm and appropriately prepared, youd really, youd say no to the president of the United States?
If you don’t trust the guy, you wouldn’t believe him if he said he wouldn’t interfere. What part of “I don’t trust him” doesn’t Hugh get?
“Hewitt is such a RINO fool. Im sure he was trying to bait Carson to help Jeb Bush.”
I bet you are right. Hewitt is a big time RINO.
> “...if I were going to serve in that position, I would have to serve under someone that I trusted.”
0bola would NEVER say that....so, pointless question.
We must SHUN Rove, and his candidates, both PRESENT AND FORMER (Yes that means duh-bya) especially since Mark Levin got Rick Santorm to admit today that Rove was behind the SQUASHING of reports of found WMDs in Iraq during the Bush presidency. This likely cost Repugnicant's the house and senate, and once again, it shows that Rove is a colossal fat, FAILURE. He needs to DISAPPEAR.
0bama actually missed a chance by appointing a leftist political hack with no medical training and no management experience to be ‘ebola Czar’.
He should have appointed a prominent Republican to the job, and when ebola runs rampant across the land, as it almost certainly will, due to 0bama’s intent and his minion’s incompetence, he could have said “See, I gave a Republican a chance, and he messed it up, killing thousands of you peasants.”
As to Ben Carson... not that 0bama even wants to know he exists, much less be willing to appoint him to a minionship... But Carson said just the right thing.
A very sad commentary, that a prominent person is saying he doesn’t trust the president enough to serve in his administration.
I was under the premise that Hugh was generally ambivalent to a Dr. Carson presidential run, but by pursuing this line of questioning Hugh demonstrates that he thinks Dr. Carson is some sort of attention whore who would glom onto anything that might increase his visibility.
Hugh- You’re a putz.
I have so much respect for Dr. Carson but the gun issue is also very important to me. I would love to see him in a very important position in government as long as he does not harm the second amendment.
