How a Racist Political Hashtag Spread Like the Ebola Virus ("Obola")
Vocativ ^ | October 14, 2014 | Markham Nolan and Adi Cohen

The World Health Organization said on Tuesday that the world could be seeing 10,000 new Ebola cases per week before Christmas. U.S. pundits seem more concerned with using Ebola to berate President Obama rather than dealing with the impact of the disease. At a time when the nation needs to unite around protecting the country from an epidemic, rational discussion of Ebola is competing with a new contagion—right-wing racism, and it’s spreading like, well, you know what.

Which is worse: EBOLA, the disease; or OBOLA, the dream from
his father?(with illustration) https://t.co/zsWqu4KuqR

Enter #obola, a diseased little meme conflating President Barack Obama with the Ebola virus, first promoted in mainstream media by conservative radio host (and qualified epidemiologist) Michael Savage. In a Sept. 30 radio slot, Savage blamed Obama’s open-borders policy for Ebola’s spread into America. “The only solution is zero travel in and out of West Africa for any American,” he said, labeling the U.S. leader as “President Obola.” Savage caused the term to trend in a major way for the first time, but he wasn’t patient zero.

That dubious honor seems to go to the Twitter account @exposeliberals, the raw bush meat of the online commentary world, with a tweet from Aug. 7 that appears to be the first infection of #obola. Even with the account’s 95,000 loyal followers, it couldn’t nudge the #obola concept into the mainstream consciousness. It lay relatively dormant for more than a month, failing to find a host that would help it go viral....

Wow. We have a potential for the final nail in our coffin, and these sycophants are concerned about a term. It’s just another finger pointing to racism for them.

But what they know and fear is that the term points the finger back at obama and lays the blame where it should be, therefore .... Ebola/obola.

Brevity is the soul of truth.

Without airplane flights out of infected African countries, the exact number of Ebola cases in America right now would be ZERO.

What a couple of dimwits. Maybe when our POTUS decided to behave like a true leader and make a few intelligent comments and protocols, then we will unite behind him.

In the meanwhile, it is apparently everyone for him/herself. The exposed persons are told to be in quarantine and with so many uneducated people, they continued to travel around, and take their temperature every so often as though that is enough. Our population is just as dumb as Obama.

“U.S. pundits seem more concerned with using Ebola to berate President Obama rather than dealing with the impact of the disease”

That’s because President Obama is golfing rather than dealing with the impact of the disease.

It is racist because it precisely describes this excuse for a President and it gets their goat to no end. And because he is black (half black, anyway) it is therefore racist.

Liberals are lazy. Why work when they can take your money. Same goes for the spoken and written word. Why say “teabagger” when “bagger” (which they now use) will do?

They are hopping mad about Obola, because it describes him and this Ebola indecision and excuse making to a tee.

Which is a more dangerous infection: ‪#‎Ebola‬, or the dreams from his father?

Flip an honest coin.

On second thought, the former. It can be solved via evolving medical technology.

The latter, however, amplified by the MSM, continue to infect and reinfect the low-information pukes out there.

The left uses ridicule to demonize those that disagree with them. For years the right has just stood there and took it. I do not know if “Obola” will catch on, but it does this old man some good to see how much it bothers the left.

Americans dying overrides the race card.

I’m sure the MSM will get some incompetent Republican to denounce calling Obama Ebola...

That really doesn’t matter, it just makes that politician as a bona fide RINO for reals. I’m gonna use it wherever I can and I hope many others do the same.

I’m sure Obola has been invented independently many times, it is too easy and accurate a meme.

So what part of Obama is it racist against? The half-white part of him? The Arab slave trader blood that makes up most of the rest? Or the little bit of Obama that is actually black?
