I did not like him after listening to him for only a few minutes. He just seemed odd.

How many mosques received subpoenas?

And Joel Osteen? The definition of people with itching ears....

No...he is a homosexual supporting false teacher.

Joel, like Jesus, is a friend of sinners, and the modern-day-law-loving Pharisees, like the Pharisees of old, dispense him.

Reading the articles on this civil lawsuit reminds me of all the CIVIL lawsuits I have been involved in in 43 years of developing real
estate in Austin. One recollection that stands out above all others is that lmany awyers are just lazy! Most of what a lot of them file they have never read. They just tell their high paid legal assistant to send the “bastards” our most comprehensive motion for production with the attitude that some items they are requesting will survive and and some want survive summary judgment at the certain “motion to quash” or “Protective order” hearing.

Judges then allow items and disallow others and the whole process starts over again.

What’s interesting in this case is the suddenness that th city lawyers started back peddling. Shows they know they really f’d up in my opinion at submitting a bunch of stuff without reading it.

He’s also a preacher of righteousness infusing joy onto the Body of Christ. Many believers need joy so badly. After all, the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Good example, today’s devotion from Joel:

why would they need to subpoena Joel Olsteen’s sermons? He is on TV FCOL. :-) In fact many churches post sermon audio and video recordings online for all to see. Then those that don’t do that .. often do not write out every word of a sermon. They might have notes but that’s about it. Besides the unconstitutional nature of the request — it was a ridiculous request by people who are decades behind the times in understanding how churches operate these days. Of course these people probably have never been in a church.

I don’t get it

You're right, you don't get it.

All these posts are "pile on" posts against some preacher in a mega church I had never heard of until I learned about him on FR about 2 months ago.

Pretty soon someone will post a gif of lots of people walking into a hole with the quote, "700,000,000 people can't be wrong". And then many others will pile on talking about the evils of a "prosperity driven gospel".

I'm not sure whar it's all about but they are quite certain it's evil. So, he's condemned, they're saved and it's FR religious free for all as usual.

Guess who’s missing from the list of Pastors persecuted
by the City of Houston?

**************

Not necessarily a hard feat to accomplish since only
five pastors received the summons.......

I was going to guess they didn’t ask a single black church!

**************

I think there were only five pastors involved and they are the leaders of a group
fighting the recently enacted HERO (Houston Equal Rights Ordinance) in the city.

No surprise there. In no way, form, or fashion is Joel O. a Minister of the Gospel.

I only have seen Osteen in small doses, but he doesn’t seem like the kind of pastor who would give sermons on homosexuality, abortion, or anything controversial.

That was a very good explanation, the first I’ve heard. Thanks for clarifying what’s going on.

I don’t suppose you’d know off hand if this mayor’s actions are popular among her electorate? I find it hard to believe the population of Houston likes the idea of hounding pastors. Otoh, they elected the woman, presumably knowing she was a lesbian activist, so perhaps they’re just getting what they wanted?

Thanks again.

I believe FR policy is that you’re not supposed to change the title from the original article. Your commentary is supposed to be in a comment below or in parentheses after.

I like Joel. His sermons make me feel good. I listen to at least two a day on the radio.

Heated? Good grief, in Houston it has to be air conditioned.

A description of Houston weather: 10 months of summer and then come July and August.

Well they disqualied THOUSANDS of petition signatures. Women are creeped out by the idea of transvestite men using the ladies rooms. There were more tan enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot and the only reason for not allowing a vote would be because the mayor thought she would lose.

It was an issue that should not have been legislated at all. What are they going to do, a gynecological exam on everyone who enters a restroom?

The mayor was nuts for pushing this. I can only assume that it was done to intentionally inflame emotions.
