CITY OF HOUSTON DEMANDS PASTORS TURN OVER SERMONS. Yes, the MAYOR.
Stand Up For The Truth! ^ | 10/14/2014 | A.Spreeman

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

“The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. “The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions.”

ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are “overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious...”

He gets more than his share of persecution by the modern-day Pharisees.

I do not see how this can possibly be legal.

In fact, the very nature of this subpena should be grounds for impeachment of the mayor and the judge

Good grief! There were hundreds of pastors not included...including some who, like JO, are on TV every Sunday in Houston and have large congregations.

Don't distract attention from Parker for her actions by bringing up Joel Osteen!

How many citizens would it take to lock the mayor in jail?

I’m missing something. How can the mayor’s attorneys, or anyone else, issue subpoenas outside of a legal process, such as an investigation or a trial on specified charges?

No...he is a homosexual supporting false teacher. The Pharisees were political and would have no problem with Joel Osteen. Jesus would have driven him out!

It is a civil case, five pastors are suing the mayor and her administration over the executive order to allow trannies to use whatever public restroom they like. They gathered signature to petition for the order to be overturned and the mayor’s people discredited thousands of signatures as not valid for all sorts of bogus reasons and so the ministers sued. I don’t know the details of the case but the mayor turned vindictive and is going after the ministers for using their churches for political purposes. ...or something like that. If she finds anything that she can label hate speech, she will use that as well. It is a fishing expedition.

I don’t get it. So what if Osteen’s not included in the Parker leftist persecution and witchhunt? What point are you trying to make here?

Honestly, I get this vibe that Osteen is one of those snake oil salesman types and I have a hard time taking him seriously. It’s one of those nebulous things that I can’t say what it is specifically about him, that rubs me the wrong way, but something does.
