Original Title: Queen humiliates President Obama at Buckingham Palace by refusing toast - May 24 2011p> First of all, I asked the Moderator if I could repost this story because...
First of all, I had never heard bout this story or seen the video and assume neither did many others who would probably would love to see it as well, Secondly, this occurred in 2011 when Obama's political status was nowhere near the utter abject failure he is now and would be very interesting knowing what we know now to see him at his diplomatic worst. Thirdly, the person who posted the video newsreeldemocracy, is as left wing liberal as you can get and he goes into a diatribe against the Queen, England, how Obama was a victim of the tricks of monarchic protocol and he never got the butt-kicking he deserved which I administered without any pain killers posted below that I wanted to share with the community.

newsreeldemocracy One of the tricks of monarchic protocol is to make it obscure enough to catch guests and make them feel lesser beings. That's the idea of monachy! Make everybody else feel lesser beings!

This is also about cross-cultures. Two persons were expecting diffrent things from the same event (check http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052MGKBY).

The Queen gives a cold shoulder to President Obama for breaking protocol offering a toast to Herself while they are playing HER SONG: 'God Save the Queen', of course.

Buckingham Palace entrapped the President by allowing the band to start early but the Queen should not have ignored a sincere offer of a toast by the US president, after all she's the copyright owner of the track.

An insult to all Americans. The Queen allowed Obama to suffer in silence his personal opprobrium. No way to treat a guest.

In the case of the Queen and other lesser royals when you have nothing to do all day pomp, protocol and etiquette becomes the only activity they care about.

So when somebody doesn't follow the 'rule' (their rule) they go cold not knowing what to do. The last time they did something trivial and intuitive was when they were born.

In the case of Obama he probably thought the music was a addition to the great words he was uttering. Like in a Hollywood movie. it was his Oscar bid.

In short, they were both thinking a lot about themselves at the time.

Americans should stay clear of Monarchy. It is stupid to pander to it for votes in America. Americas should feel proud of their history. After all, weren't the 'French-speaking French' that took American's side during Independence?

The best of America is that we are not a bunch of elitist royals obsessed with 'etiquette' - so a few privileged rulers can be separated from the many underprivileged.

A great Queen would've acted swiftly and toasted. A sad moment for democracy. As usual.

The BBC and many networks including US ones at first did not make any mention of the gaffe in their main news programmes. Some did menion it but did not show the president's face after the snub. ====================================================== Some other commenter
When any country's national anthem is performed all stand quietly observing respect of that country. Mr. Obama shows his ignorance, arrogance, and rudeness to these formal matters through his pride while displaying his incredible lack of etiquette. After his improperly timed "toast", the Queen firmly orders him to "Stand." and he complies unhappily. After the anthem ends, and with eloquence, she politely raises her glass in recognition to his toast. Mr. Obama's formal protocol and etiquette lacks glitter, shine, substance, and all that a King/President needs to be a wise ruler of any country and kingdom. The arrogance he displays is sad really. Hold on to JESUS for HE truly is our only way, truth, and life. =========================================================================================================== newsreeldemocracy;Your comments are way off base. Your gaping lack of knowledge is probably the result of the liberal mental creep that is destroying your brain. You don't seem to be an informed, individual aware of the facts regarding the relationship between The US and Great Britain and the circumstances in which Obama managed to anger. antagonize the entire diplomatic staff in Great Britain, the Prime Minister and the Royal family all in one fell swoop before you launched your propaganda campaign. America's closest, best ally is Great Britain, has been for the longest time. Generally, when a new president arrive in office he will begin meeting, heads of state such as he did upon meeting Prime Minister Brown.Obama, the Kenyan Fraudster, has by dint of his Kenyan dog eating upbringing a deep, gaping enmity resentment towards Great Britain because of its imperial past, the manner in which it treated African village people like Obama and his family like the primitive black tribesman they were, are.And special vituperative anger towards one man more than any single British Stateman Winston Churchill, a man revered by the West and America as one of the greatest heroes of our day for almost single-handily defeating the Nazi scourge in World War 2. But Third World countries like Kenya and its dog eaters have an inborn, inherent hared for Churchill because he didn't suffer third world backward priimitive socities lightly. Well, one of the greatest gifts ever given to our country one that we held in the highest esteem was a bust of Winston Churchill, kept separate from other items of this nature due to the value we placed on an heirloom artifact given to us by England in the aftermath of World War 2.

Well, when Mr. Brown arrived in Washington, DC very early in the Obama Administration not only were they shocked by the shabby manner in which they were received by Kenyan Dog Eater but the first thing Obama did was return the priceless, most cherished gift of the bust of Winston Chuchill back to the Prime Minister along with a gift to the Queen, an IPOD along with 25 music CDs. Well, this was a most horrific diplomatic embarrassment for the British and the Royal Family since they lost the colonies in the 1700''s Is it any wonder that the British royal family invited every major world leader to their grandson's wedding but made sure to disinvite Barack and Michelle Obama, who did not attend the wedding. You must be kidding to say Americans were embarrassed by the treatment given to the president. After all he's down to destroy and embarrass our closest ally and their royal family,it is amazing the Queen even allowed him into the county lbryce.

Lack of a competent Chief of Protocol became obvious once the ridiculous gifts he gave became public.

Not to mention that Mooschelle wears Kenyan-chic to the formal dinner...
Nothing like a reminder to the Royals RE the Obama family attitude towards the Brits.

It looks like Obama wanted to “accentuate” his speech by having them play the music. Little did he know that this music wasn’t just a backdrop to make him look better, but it held a deeper meaning for the the Queen and others.

Well said.

I agree with you that it was a gaffe that was unintentional. Somebody signalled the band to start playing and it was a royal screw up. All these events have a "director" behind the scenes in charge of the program. Someone screwed up royally.

However, what I didn't like was Obama intentionally not drinking to the Queen after his own toast....instead, he stuck out like a sore thumb when he leaned over right in front of her to put the glass down with a sullen look on his face.

Think of how he could have righted the whole comedy of errors if he had raised his glass to her and took a mighty swig with a big smile aimed right at her.

But he's too narcissistic....he was still smarting from the musical mix-up and was thinking only of how he was made to look bad.

What a petty klutz!

My cousin and his wife are Brits, living in a London suburb....and ardent Tories. I'll see what they've picked up about the whole scenario. They may not even remember it if they never saw this video on their computer.

Cheerio,

Leni

No doubt he had to listen to an IPod of his best speeches for two or three hours before his self esteem was restored.

Confirmed: Queen’s iPod includes Obama’s speeches

If they were playing “G-d save the Queen”, he might have thought it was “My Country tis of thee”

Ya think? :)

Don’t mess with an Octogenarian. Especially one with a crown,

That’s what I thought after I posted - he thought they were playing a nice little ditty about the nasty country he’s forced to “rule.” It’s entirely possible.

Why would you think the Palace made a mistake? They do this stuff all the time. They’re absolute experts in protocol - something Obama is clearly not. And the Queen simply does not allow these kind of gaffes. Impossible.

When toasting the queen, isn’t the entirety of the toast to raise one’s glass and say, “The Queen,” which then everyone repeats except the queen herself? Perhaps that’s why the band struck up the anthem . . . according to protocol, Bammy’s toast was finished.

If I recall correctly, Cowmilla told him to stiffle it because they were playing “God a Save the Queen”...
O’bozo said later he thought it was “back ground music”...
Yep, smartest prez EVAH!

Jackass Obama wouldn’t know any better as he would be the first to leave o his golfing hat and take a selfie while The Star Spangled Banner plays.
