Didn’t expect that from the Village Voice.

There is no other point TO “liberalism” other than feeling superior and more self righteous than those that don’t have the same beliefs.

No other reason to even be a liberal.

BUMP - I agree

Leftist ideologues like “son” no longer consider others as human beings. I think they lose grip on sanity.

No it's not. It's "Can't we all just get along", padded to 1,000 words.

That was my take also (although I didn't get past the second paragraph. I could see where he was going).

He is correct that one should not be consumed by politics, but there is right and wrong. Satan deceived Eve by telling her that 'ye shall not die', when she clearing did something wrong - disobeying, and not believing God.

The best rules to live by, is what The Lord Jesus gave us on the Sermon on the Mount.

Matthew 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

I am surprised that I havent seen images of crucifixion on Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC...not.

Wait until those 40,000 folks on top of the mountain are slaughtered. They are not all Christians, so maybe its Ok to show them being beheaded. Maybe just the kids.

The truth is horrible some times.

“Love your dad because he’s your father, because he made you, because he thinks for himself, and most of all because he is a person. Have the strength to doubt and question what you believe as easily as you’re so quick to doubt his beliefs. Live with a truly open mind — the kind of open mind that even questions the idea of an open mind. Don’t feel the need to always pick a side. And if you do pick a side, pick the side of love. It remains our only real hope for survival and has more power to save us than any other belief we could ever cling to.”

+1

“Half of my own family is sh@t house mouse crazy left wing nuts I will never talk to again.”

I am going to be laughing about that one for a long time! I haven’t heard, ‘sh@t house mouse’ since the military in the 60s! ;-)

Yeah, exactly. Pure relativism, which is halfway to a surrender to collectivism, which is wrong. Morally and practically. There is absolute good and bad, absolute right and wrong.

Exactly. It’s not as if we have to view every instant of our lives through a political lens, but there are absolute truths and absolute standards of right and wrong, whether liberals or enablers like this guy think so or not.

He may already be here.

The trouble with such moral relativity is that it fails as soon as it leaves the areas of intellectual contention.

Imagine two people, one who is willing to let others live their lives, as long as they return the courtesy; and the other who insists on being “in control” and running other people’s lives, because they think they “know better”.

The first person leads a more liberty and freedom oriented life, with boundaries to preserve liberty and freedom for all.

The second person is unhappy with the liberty and freedom that they have, and really delves into the seven deadly sins to justify breaking the mutual boundaries and imposing themselves on others. I mean this literally.

Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Vanity. All are used to rationalize imposing on others.

From a conservative point of view, each of these seven seem to be the major, overlapping constituencies of the Democrat party (and a few in the Republican party as well).

This is truly where the breakdown of “love” happens, because the second kind of person’s behavior is so controlling and oppressive that unless strongly checked, it will try to take over the entire lives of the first kind, dictating them into slavery and even death to appease its insatiable desires.

Whereas nobody is truly oppressed by freedom and liberty, unless they embrace weird fantasies that it will destroy the world or cause supernatural punishment to befall everyone. But this is just rationalization to justify their bad behavior.
