Mayim Bialik: It’s hard to stay focused with Israel on my mind (Amy Farrah-Fowler/Blossom)
Kveller - A Jewish Twist On Parenting ^ | July 24, 2014 | Mayim Bialik

Posted on 07/24/2014 6:21:09 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Besides the fact that I am recovering from major hand surgery, I am finding it difficult to write these days. I am using a dictation program as well as utilizing Fancy Assistant Brandon’s typing skills, so it’s not that I have no way to communicate with the outside world.

The problem is with Israel. It’s on my mind pretty much all of the time. When the three teenagers were kidnapped a month ago, it was on my mind. When they were found murdered and left in an open field, it was on my mind. When Jewish extremists burned a Palestinian teenager alive in retribution, it was on my mind.

What is also on my mind is the plight of the Palestinian people; the innocent people caught in the crossfire of Hamas, a military and political entity which calls for the explicit destruction of the state of Israel as part of their official charter. What is also on my mind are the hundreds of thousands of Jews and Arabs in Israel being shelled with rockets from every border. What is also on my mind is my family and my friends and their children and their grandchildren being ushered into bomb shelters when sirens blare.

What is on my mind is the very real war in Gaza and Israel and also the public relations war that is raging in the Middle East. Israel is losing this war because of bureaucracy and fear and denial. I wish all of the Israel haters would learn more about Israel. And I wish all of the Arab haters would stop hating in the name of religion.

I wish no one cared what celebrities think about the situation in Israel. I wish people would stop posting things on social media about what a horrible person I am because I am a Jew. And about how all Israel supporters are Nazis and hate Palestinian children and want them dead. Because that’s just wrong and ridiculous.

I watched “Braveheart” a few nights ago for the first time. I instantly fell in love with it, even as so many people in my life express varying shades of shock and dismay that I would support a Mel Gibson movie, you know, “because he’s a raging anti-Semite.”

Even watching “Braveheart” brings me back to Israel. Is Mel Gibson really an anti-Semite? Are the people who hate me for being Jewish because I support the right of Israel to exist anti-Semitic? Is the freedom that William Wallace fought and died for 1000 years ago in Scotland the same freedom that the Palestinian people fight for? And is that freedom the same as the freedom for Israeli citizens to live without rockets falling on you and without your neighbors rallying actively for you to be pushed into the sea simply because you exist as a Jew?

I will try to turn my frown upside down for next week. I will try and tell you some of the fun and funny things that have gone on as I am recovering from surgery. My hairless cat is endlessly amusing. My sons are complicated and delightful and delicious. There is so much goodness and there is so much joy in this world. But this week, I am having trouble putting that into words.

I have been listening to David Broza’s “Yi’hiyeh Tov” a lot right now. I can’t help it. Here is the song and here is the translation:

I look out of the window and it makes me very sad Spring has left who knows when it will return The clown has become a king the prophet has become a clown and I have forgotten the way but I am still here

And all will be good Yes, all will be good though I sometimes break down But this night oh, this night I will stay with you

Children wear wings and fly off to the army And after two years they return without an answer People live under stress looking for a reason to breathe and between hatred and murder they talk about peace

And all will be good…

Yes up there in the sky clouds are learning how to fly and I look up and see a hijacked airplane A government of generals divide the land to whats theirs and ours and when will we see the end?

Here comes the prince of Egypt oh how I rejoiced for him there are pyramids in our eyes and peace in his pipe And we said let’s complete it and we’ll live as brothers and he then said let’s advance going out from the shtachim

And all will be good…

We will yet learn to live together between the groves of olive trees Children will live without fear without borders, without bomb-shelters On graves grass will grow for peace and love One hundred years of war but we have not lost hope

And all will be good…

I look out of my window maybe it will come: A new day

Every week, the Sabbath provides us an opportunity to hit our reset button. Let us hope for an end to the war in the Middle East for the Israeli Jews and the Israeli Arabs and the Palestinians and the larger Arab world that seeks peace and coexistence. Let us hope to start new next week. And may this Shabbat truly be a Shabbat Shalom: a Sabbath of peace.

There will be no peace in the middle east or the world until the Prince of Peace returns. Unfortunately, until He comes, things are going to get much, much worse. Satan knows his time is short.

I like her character in BBT, but she is kidding herself if she thinks, at large, the Palestinian people desire peace. What arab country wouldn’t seek to exterminate Israel if they could get away with it? There is a not a desire for peace...it’s fear which keeps them from doing so. Has the mindset changed since 1967, 1973? no.

The only reason why certain celebrities come out with their Anti Israel idiocy is because they think its now “Cool” to hate Israel, they think it will get them more fans..I doubt any of those buffoons could even locate Israel on a map

From Ms. Bialik's Wikipedia page:

At the end of Blossom, she chose to attend UCLA, although she also had been accepted to both Harvard and Yale. She stated that she wanted to stay close to her parents and did not want to move to the East Coast. She earned a B.S. degree in Neuroscience, Hebrew studies, and Jewish studies, and went on to obtain a doctorate in neuroscience.

She took a break from studies in 2005 to return to acting. Bialik obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2007. Her dissertation was an investigation of hypothalamic activity in patients with Prader–Willi syndrome, titled, Hypothalamic regulation in relation to maladaptive, obsessive-compulsive, affiliative, and satiety behaviors in Prader-Willi syndrome.

A few days ago, Hamas was reporting that they had captured an Israeli soldier(turned out to be total BS) but on the streets of Gaza, children, yes, children were seen dancing in the streets..when the 3 Israeli teens were brutally murdered, and their bodies carried away in Israeli ambulances, children were seen giving the middle finger to those ambulances..do I believe that every single Palestinian in Gaza supports Hamas, I dont think so, I think some are scared to death of them and are forced to do their bidding..but the majority of them support Hamas and they pass that along to their children, who would blow themselves up right this minute for “Allah” if they were given the chance

I’m trying to parse out what she’s saying but she’s all over the map. Just when I think she’s brought up a cogent point she manages to deconstruct her own reasoning. Ultimately it’s incoherent.

Peace only comes between nations when one nation or the other nation becomes the victor over the other or Jesus returns. Without the return of Jesus and one shall not know the time or place of His return; there has to be a backup plan. I hate war too Mam but peace only comes when there is a Victor. May God Bless Israel with victory!

She is amazing :-)

She was not blessed with great beauty, although I consider her to look just fine.

Mayim is actually as smart as the geeks on BBT are portrayed in the show.

She is a treasure....

I agree. It’s not the ‘person’ afraid, but the leadership/organizational entity: the fear is that Israel has nuclear weapons, and knows how to use them.

And the idiots who are accusing Israel of “War crimes” please..if Israel wanted to kill Palestinians they could have turned Gaza into a gigantic graveyard in a span of 5 minutes..what other country would give advance warning about buildings they are about to bomb..no other country would do it..does Obama give advance notice when he uses a drone on a terrorist, of course not..what you are seeing now are the Jew Haters coming out of the woodwork because they already hate Israel and they think now is the time to be with the “In crowd”

I do too. Compare what she wrote to what other Hollyweird fools say and it’s refreshing. She was very sly how she wrote it, asking hard hitting questions with a velvet glove that the low info types can understand.

I’ve seen pics of her cleaned up, and she doesn’t look bad at all.

actors really believe all the world can’t exist without knowing what they feel.

just keep acting. don’t ruin it for us going off-script.

the only thing i was interested in was what happened to her hand, and she didn’t mention that.

don’t ding her for that, big pharma doesn’t give two sh1ts about you if you’re damaged or killed by their vax’s.

bill gates thinks vax’s are how we control and REDUCE the earth’s population - his own words. every one he’s been involved with has killed a good number of people.

Innocent peaceful people will always be irrelevant until they defeat the people trying to use them . Hamas in this case.

here’s part of hubby’s verbal rant I started typing on another thread: “Israel is dependent on us economically and militarily....and there is NO way Odouchebag (his everyday name for Obama) would support them. He was nominally anti-Israel in 2008 and clearly and obviously anti-Israel in 2012...but still carried the Jewish vote. Geo-politically, Odouchebag doesn’t care how we look. He’s not going to care about any damage done to Israel. Name a country in the Middle East where Jews are shown a fraction of rights that Arabs enjoy in Israel? but you won’t hear that amongst the boycott/invest/sanction crowd....”

Since 9/11 happened..the media did everything they could to protect Muslims. I have never in my life seen a more protected class of people(Other than blacks of course) who could commit mass murder and be called victims at the same time. The Boston Bomber, Muslim..what did the media do, made excuses for him..aww poor baby, he could never get used to life in America, he was teased..first the media blamed the right for the attack, then when they found out it was two Muslim scumbags who were leaching off our country for YEARS, they made excuses for them..maybe if these same media pricks had their arms and legs blown off they would think differently
Boko Haram murders HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS of innocent men, women, and children..often times BURNING THEM ALIVE..why, because they are Christian..what happened to that hashtag for the Nigerian girls..yeah those girls stories pretty much died pretty quick didnt it..now not even a peep about them..either they are dead or sex slaves for Mullah’s, not like anyone in the media cares..you have Christians being slaughtered in Iraq for being Christian, not a peep from the media..you have what, 180,000 dead Syrians, many of them slaughtered by their own Govt, not a peep from the media..yet when Israel defends itself from constant rocket fire, a constant bombardment, you hear nothing but outrage from the media..that says everything you need to know
