On Saturday, 200 people marched through the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles protesting racial profiling and gun violence on the first anniversary of the verdict acquitting George Zimmerman of murdering Trayvon Martin.
The crowd, led by Trayvon Martins parents, carried banners and chanted, What do we want?... Justice. What do we want? Justice.
According to CBS2 Los Angeles, the rally was organized by the Trayvon Martin Foundation, which states on its website that its purpose is to create awareness of how violent crime impacts the families of the victims and to provide support and advocacy for those families in response to the murder of Trayvon Martin. The foundations statement obviously ignores the fact that the court did not find that Trayvon was murdered. Instead it ruled that George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murder and manslaughter charges.
Tracy Martin, Trayvons father, announced that he was there for a reason: Its about being loyal to you guys because you have been so loyal to us. Trayvons mother Sybrina Fulton added, We want L.A. to know we stand with you. We understand, we support you.
One lady at the rally said she was there because her dad was killed due to gang violence when she was four-years- old. Some came to express their solidarity and to speak out against racial profiling. There are many people who wake up every day who dont have the choice to decide how we are perceived by the world, lamented Kenya Parham....

Skittles?
“Rally’s against racial profiling...”
Oh, you mean like what the media tried to to to George Zimmerman?
Trayvon would be alive today if he didn’t start a fight with Zimmerman.
I wish these people would talk about that aspect of ghetto culture, which causes people to become violent over minor provocations.
Fixed it.
Is it just me, or is this really not such a good time for people in Cali to be whining for anti gun and anti profiling with the feds trying to bring bus loads of illegals-with gang members among them-to their communities...
One wonders by whom (ultimately) might this event have been ..."community organized"?
Needs a counter protest involving a kill-dozer or two...
He's making money...where's it coming from?
The foundation of donated money?
I really don’t think there has been an event in the last decade that better illustrates the gap between left and right better than the respective responses to Trayvon and George Zimmerman.
They want justice for Trayvon? What do they want us to do - dig him up and shoot him again? (Stolen from another FReeper.)
By all means, let’s rally against proven empirical evidence.
These cretins are ignorant writ large.
Justice was done- what YOU want is just-us!
Obama abused the Office of The President to portray the victim in a Florida criminal case as the attacker and his attacker as the victim asserting among other things the Zimmerman trial was caused by “racial profiling”. Because it suited his political purposes he continued to perpetuate it. Allowing the episode to expand the racial division that has resulted in racial attacks on whites, hispanics, and asians many times rsulting in killings by blacks.
When and if articles of impeachment ever get drawnup should this misuse of the presidential office be included in them ?
Trayvon got what he deserved, and no amount of trying to twist his demise into something it wasn’t will change matters. It’s time to move on, so people can not care in peace. We can only hope some knockout players will get the same treatment, allowing this national farce to get new moaners.
I do think that drugged up little Trayvon picked his victim poorly.
Trayvon was, is and will always be a thug on this earth.
May God have mercy.
What an odd urn for St. Skittles
