So were all the other nations and many Israelites and Jews.

Wow Redleg, you must have went to university with boatbuns... You actually comparing the Greeks with all of their Gods, and well known Myths, with the God of the Hebrews???

LOL, no. I reposted my response to why someone like Gordon who does not see Yeshua as Messiah and Lord cannot have the ears needed to hear nor eyes to see. Again why I mentioned Joey Smith. The BOM, according to Mormons, interprets the OT and NT. So Gordon approaching texts he himself does not believe are inspired of God, is no authority to interpret them.

It takes a dedicated servant of the Adversary to consistently post the drivel against Yehova’s chosen messengers that you do.

I suggest changing employers.

Okay, Whew! You had be worried... So why don't you 'splain yourself then...

How are the Greeks with their numerous Pagan Gods equal to the Hebrews and their one God and maybe a golden calf or two?

Gentile communities?

Nonsense!

Every congregation Paul wrote to was a known Hebrew enclave, even the Talmudic writers acknowledge that.

One only has to read Judges, 1 Kings, 2 Kings etc. to see Israel and Judah go off the rails worshipping everything under and over the sky to realize they were the worst pagans in the known world.

So Nehemiah Gordon has to be God inspired to interpret Hebrew puns? Is that what you're trying to sell us???

Yes, te first couple of hundred years of the church was totally Jewish. When Paul went to a town he went to the synagogue first. All the disciples did.

How many of the House of Israel were at the Areopagus in Acts 17?

Acts 17:

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:

TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: 24 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ 29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. 30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.” 33 So Paul departed from among them. 34 However, some men joined him and believed, among them Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

I think the Greeks refined the art of worshipping pagan Gods. There language reflects that fact, whereas Hebrew reflects the worship of the one true God.

Correct. One is either for Christ or against Christ there is no middle ground. Why should we trust someone who is against Christ to suggest there must have been other texts than what we have today? Does that not, as we see here, cast doubt on the Word of God?

Of course not... I had you pegged for being smarter than that... Maybe you've let university affect your common sense their big guy?

We're talking researching whether the original New Testament texts were Hebrew/Aramaic or Greek. That means someone like Gordon, who would have no bias, would be the perfect candidate.

Your either not as bright as I assumed you were, are you are being dishonest with me. :(

Using your logic, lets see your original "Greek" epistles then...

You mean like Codex Sinaiticus, the Bodmer papyri or the Rylands papyri? There are thousands of Greek manuscripts and fragments dating back to the early 2nd century.

Of course, I never claimed that the autographs were still extant—only that the onus was upon you to show, by presenting earlier Hebrew manuscripts, that the Greek ones are translations. But until you can actually present those very early Hebrew New Testament documents, this idea that the NT was originally written in Hebrew then translated into Greek, is nothing but fantasy and conjecture.

Maybe you think so, but that doesn't mean millions of others agree with you. So, seems like our discussion has reached a brick wall of sorts.

I see you want to play games again with insults. Please review my posts. They HAVE been critical, but each one has been with respect.

Yes, I do believe Gordon is biased. Just as agnostic and atheist scholars have bias.

Have you no shame???

Have you no discretion??? Explain why a Christian would want to swallow whole whatever a self-admitted non-Christian, Jewish theologian declares about the Christian faith and the sacred Scriptures that form the basis of our faith? Can you grasp the level of blindness this man has regarding our Savior Jesus Christ???
