The Real Reason Sarah Palin Defended John McCain
Yahoo Voices ^ | January 28, 2014 | Mark R. Whittington

Posted on 01/28/2014 12:10:14 PM PST by Marcus

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. was recently censored by Arizona Republicans for being too much of a RINO and a generally irascible fellow. Sarah Palin has taken to her Facebook page to rally to the venerable war hero's defense.

Suppose Palin intends to run for president. How does unnecessarily preempting McCain’s support help her campaign? If any bridge is to be burned, let McCain do it. He will be the one who comes off as small, considering Palin’s generosity towards him.

What bridges would she have burned by keeping her yap shut? Her rush to his defense was completely unnecessary and put her on the wrong side of the fence as far as I'm concerned. I dropped her from consideration for any office when she stabbed conservatives in the back by endorsing him for the Senate in 2010. This just reinforces my decision.

One of the very few things I admire Carter for doing.

Add deregulation of home brewing, interstate trucking and airline travel.

Who knew her outside of Alaska until McCain made her VP?

My bro was the radar operator on the Oriskany aircraft carrier from whose deck he flew out - my bro said he used his daddy’s pull to get the combat mission assignment despite the fact he was not technically proficient enough to warrant getting that combat clearance. The result is well known.

Fearlessness and incompetence are a dangerous combination. He was fortunate to have survived.

Precisely. She has conservatives eating out of her hand. To win the moderates, she needs McCain's endorsement or at least his non-endorsement of her opponents.

She is probably being kind to McCain because she knows that were he not in Congress, he’d be in a nursing home somewhere.

So a Navy EM radio type knows how Navy officers are assigned? Amazing. My uncle flew in WWII and Korea off two carriers ( one per war) and no EM knew/knows how he got assigned.

What’s your point? She owed him, we agree, and she paid the debt in ‘10. She seems to think she should keep on paying for some reason. Bad news for her, because you can see her support draining by thousands of people every time she expresses support for a RINO, any RINO.

That expresses my view as well. I might get some big visceral kick if Palin came out and said of McCain “he’s a crazy old goat, and needs to retire now!” But that just wouldn’t be her nature. It wouldn’t be the Sarah Palin we know and admire. Indeed, when it comes to her intermittant vocal defenses of McCain, the ironic upshot is that it just makes a reminding highlight of what a petty and pathetic character McCain truly is. There’s almost a damning undercurrent going on, given all the history.

Yeah I can say that but she never will..if people are expecting Sarah to one day wake up and say “McCain is a giant turd” its never gonna happen..she may know who McCain is but she will never publicly turn her back on him. Ive had “Friends” like McCain, users, they call you only when they need something then drop you like a sack of potatoes.

“I think the real reason is that she’s not done with politics. Had she denounced McCain, and ran for office, she would have had to run an independent campaign devoid of any party funding.”

Your comment is not logically consistent. If the second part is correct, then the first part is not.

IOW, by not denouncing him, she retains the sizable support and allies McCain has in AZ and DC. Should she ever run for office again.

You know, the non Bush Familia wing of the GOP party, who think the Bushes/Rove went way over the line in their treatment of McCain in 2000, and who don’t want to return to Bush Republicanism.

This nation is too big and the parties too powerful for an outsider to ever win a major election without some backing from one of the major political parties.

By remaining loyal to McCain in the areas where she can, she does not burn bridges with a significant, and I suspect, growing segment of the national party who are Sick of Bushes.

“Don’t get me started on Sarah.

Stars were in her eyes from the beginning, and her roll-out at convention was fabulous, but it belied the fact that she was not qualified for the broad intellectual rigors of the national media, where she promptly fell apart, left to pitch “momma grizzley” and apple pie, endless red, white and blue platitudes with the depth of a piece of paper.

Yikes. Sorry.”

Don’t get me started on your ignorance.

But you can get started educating yourself about Palin here:

I’m with you.

I don’t have any patience left for people who show charity towards leftists and traitors. And that’s what McCain is-—a blackhearted old traitor without a single principle to his name. Except for the advancement of his own power, that is. He’s not a doddering, senile coot who isn’t responsible for his words and actions.

Sarah’s debt to him was paid long ago. Enough already.

There is no point except the truth. Palin is not what we need either. We need real business types to get this country out of hoc.

The thing that really turned me off about her was the hype, the [almost] cult-of-personality her [vocal/visible] supporters seem to fall into — I hate that aspect about Obama's supporters, and I hate it in hers. We cannot afford to have leadership which is given inaccurate information — just like a general can't win a war if his Colonels gloss over the deficient-training, low-morale, and lack-of-personnel in their units, a leader cannot make good choices when everyone is saying what they think they want to hear.
