Translation: “I don’t give a damn about the Constitution!”

Just because the Democrats lie, cheat, and steal doesn’t mean that the Republicans have to ignore it. Still less does it mean that they should lie, cheat, and steal in return.

We need a return to honest government, hard as Republicans of all persuasions—whether RINO or Paulite—seem to find getting their heads around that concept.

“You won’t find me questioning his eligibility. I decided a long time ago I wasn’t going to be a birther for Democrats. I’m not a birther for Republicans,” he said. “I’m staying out of that. Yeah, I’m just staying out of that one.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So. Paul is either too much of a coward to address a rational question or he is in agreement with the many and different official versions of the Obama birth certificate story.
Which is it?
He’s just saying that so as not to damage the party now. Locked in a fierce race for the nomination it’s a whole different story.
Amazing that the msm has spent more time in one week investigating Sen Cruz than they have in 5 years of Urkel’s despotic rule.
You won't find me questioning his eligibility. I decided a long time ago I wasn't going to be a birther for Democrats. I'm not a birther for Republicans
Then you've perjured yourself by violating the Oath you swore to uphold the Constitution, you gutless, traitorous putz!
Well someone needs to question Ted Cruz's eligibility early on, in the form of a lawsuit, in the event Cruz gets onto a primary ballot. That's the only way the issue will ever get to the supreme court. I have no doubt now, after the obamacare decision, that the ruling would allow both Obama and Cruz.
Post-constitutional? Yes but I'd still vote for Ted Cruz.
Wow, we love shooting ourselves don’t we? He wont question it because its not an issue. The Senate will give him courtesy approval if he runs like McCain had because the naturalized vs natural born controversy is vague. Seriously, he’s our best guy right now. Props to Rand.
To be a “natural born citizen” of the United States, requires that
a)*both* parents be loyal to the United States, and *that* status can be: *both* demonstrated and proved; and
b) the child must be born on U.S. soil.
“Natural born” does not mean “born naturally.”
“Natural born” does mean, to be without mystery and without question, in regard to the parents loyalty and location of birth of the child.
A parent being a U.S. citizen, fulfills the demonstration of being loyal, but a challenge can be made to the proof of that loyalty. Though that proof is not automatically assumed, it often is, if the parent is a U.S. citizen.
“U.S. soil” includes U.S. territories, structures of state, and vehicles of state. A “structure of state” would be a U.S. Consul or even a U.S. Mission (if the Consul or Ambassador is present). A “vehicle of state” would be *the car* or *the aircraft* of the U.S. Ambassador *with the Ambassador present.* A “vehicle of state” is also any *active* U.S. military ship on land, at sea, or in the air.
In the case of Barack H. Obama, he is not eligible, because his father had little-to-none (if any) demonstrated loyalty to the U.S.A., plus in fact, you will find that his father had *proven* loyalties elsewhere, in addition to not being a U.S. citizen.
In the case of Ted Cruz, he was not born on U.S. soil.
Back to Obama ...
From what I’ve read, there seems to be no proof of Obama being born in Hawaii. Instead, there is only some documentation, such as a “certificate of live birth” which verifies ONLY: that *other records (not revealed to the public)* exist, such that Obama was examined as a relatively new baby (within a week of actual birth) at a hospital in Hawaii.
As a legality, you may show that Obama was a U.S. citizen by the end of the first week after his birth, and stretch that to make him “a native American,” on paper, but, again, his father’s status prevented Obama from being a “natural born citizen.”
IMHO
I'm sorry, you guys are just nuts. Any thing you are saying has been broken by precedent. Bambi was elected president TWICE, with no court, no consensus, not a single judge with any intent to remove him for all of your bloviating.
So now, you want to take out the best conservative in the Senate, and prevent him from being president because of your theories (which is all they are now).
Good grief, get a life and stop being the conservative purist circular firing squad!
It's done, it's over, he's going to be president for 8 years, the precedent is set, so why are you trying to take out one of our finest candidates?
And you all think the GOPE is stupid, good grief.............
Regarding the title of this thread, Rand is therefore a hypocrite constitutionalist. Corrections welcome.
That he, Paul, is not even open for discussion on the matter shows a kind of political posturing that does not bode well for the USA. He seems to have a position that ‘birthers’ are scum. Besides the article says that Cruz’s father was only born in Cuba. Cruz’s father was still a citizen of Cuba when son Cruz was born. This is a very important factor in eligibility. I would hope Paul reads or get some discussion of both sides of the ‘birther’ issue from FR before I make up my mind about his politics.
