This is the end of Hostess Bakery Company. It was started in 1930 and died a few days after Barack Obama was reelected. The smiles have barely left the faces of his supporters, and now thousands of them across the country are being fired and laid-off.
We deeply regret the necessity of todays decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike.
Hostess Brands will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,500-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders. With these 45 words the world has been turned upside down for proud and determined union members who were going to show Hostess how things will be from now on.
Instead they got a smack across the nose and a clear lesson about how an economy really works.
These 18,500 people have been led into a strike they never had a chance of winning. They foolishly believe Obamanomics works because their leaders told them so. Commies and union leaders lie.
The unions involved were thoroughly warned that a strike would mean the end of Hostess, but alas they didnt care.
They had just reelected their president so what could go wrong? Hostess would be forced to remain in business to provide them with jobs wouldnt they?
Because they are liberal Democrats these people know nothing about how wealth is created, and dont really care. All they know is if you have wealth they will find a way to take it.
They are child-like in their understanding of wealth. They are like five year olds who dont believe mommy has no money because they saw a ten dollar bill in her purse.
these layoffs which come just in time for Thanksgiving

Hostess should offer the union employees a discount on remaining stock. They can eat cake! Hhahahahhahahahahahaahahaaha....when they’re starving, they can pop open a Twinkie and think about the good old days.
Screw them.
I remember when the printers union went on strike against the Los Angeles Herald Examiner in 1966. Those guys are still on strike.
Ode to a Twinkie
Oh, Twinkie with your golden hue,
You have delicious goop in you.
There you are! Were you waiting long,
Between Sno-balls and stale Ding Dong?
My friends all think I’m kinda kinky
Cause my role model is a twinkie.
But they don’t know what we’ve been through.
Dear Twinkie, I can count on you.
I tell my troubles as I bite.
You never tell me, “That’s not right.”
You listen to each foolish fear,
Then slowly, deliciously disappear.
I hold you close when we’re alone
And think the thoughts that are my own.
Then turn to you, my dear sweet yummie.
You clear my mind, tickle my tummie.
Your outside is a little plain,
But inside you are “mellow lane.”
I like you better than these folks,
Who look at me and then make jokes.
People should be more like you.
You don’t judge the things folks do.
Inside is where your beauty lies.
Within the plain, there’s sweet surprise.

(I guess this needs to be reworded as a lament now. Oh, Twinkie, I hardly knew thee.
That they are still a going concern with all of the unnecessary debt load that was incurred via all of the non-value-added sales is a miracle.
The history of Hostess is even more checkered. At one time they were owned by a computer company! That they survived as long as they did through a series of incompetent management and unnecessary and non-value-added sales is also a miracle.
The unions may have been the ones to put the final nail in the coffin, but most of the nails were put in my Bain-type idiots who were more concerned with short-term profits than maintaining the longterm health of a company that provided a product that millions of people enjoyed.
It ain’t over until the court grant’s Hostess their request.
Obama may not let them close the doors; Mssrs Thompson and Mouch have yet to be consulted.
Still cannot find out where these layoffs will actually take place.
Obama will give them a bailout to stay open
LMAO poetic justice i’ve watched on the teli these folks with hostess crying about how unfair it is to cut their pay by 8% and how unfair it is for them to go out of business but NOTHING about how unjust it is for them to go on strike when the economy that we are living under is crushing all kinds of factories to dust including theirs !...
Bet these unions will start taking a second look at how protected they are once they start losing members and get shut down due to lack of income ! then again maybe they aren’t that bright after all !
But, good liberals such as Michelle Obama and Bloomberg, who want to save us from junk food and sodas, may actually be happy about the troubles of the company which makes Twinkies.
Michelle has stated that food deserts in our cities have too many stores which sell stuff like chips and other junk food, and don’t have fresh produce and other healthy fare.
There was an article out of Orlando, the strikers WANTED it to shut down and liquidate. They were convinced a new owner would honor their original contracts.
Serious delusions.

This is very well written. Even a democrat could understand it.
Sounds like Kramer being on strike against the bagel company.
for some reason I want to hear Kelsey Grammar read that.
Can anyone explain why so many companies are announcing layoffs after the election? Certainly their long term business plans showed trouble ahead, before the election, and layoffs would have happened regardless of the election results.
Not every buy out or bail out works. Many fail.
I remember PSA Airlines on the west coast ca. 1990. They were loved by customers and employees. Then US Air buys them, their routes, gates, planes; drop the name PSA and in a few years mostly close down former PSA operations.
Along comes United shuttle, yuk but they kept operating and finally Southwest Airlines which thrives in the same space.
Went to the grocery store this morning and got the last box of Cupcakes, Ding Dongs, and the two remaining Snowballs and fruit pies. A lady in front of me took all the Twinkies, 25 boxes for her office.
That’s it. The liberals have helped destoy an American enterprise all in the name of greed.
Obama will give them a bailout to the UNION to stay open
Let them eat cake.
Or William Shatner.
“Certainly their long term business plans showed trouble ahead, before the election, and layoffs would have happened regardless of the election results.”
Not really. The short term outcome of the election could have radically altered the long range results. Many companies were going to layoff until they heard Romney promise to cancel OmabaCare, reign in the EPA, regulations, change banking rules, etc., and get the economy going. So, companies had two plans: Obama and Romney. The Obama plan included layoffs.
Thanks for your sterling analysis, Mr. Axelrod.
Just for your information, the typical LBO portfolio company is purchased by "Bain-type idiots" for a holding period of seven to ten years - "short term profits" are the exact opposite of the LBO investing model.

They are famous for getting sweets on the cheap and you can get day old bread very very cheap plus ho ho’s ding dong’s twinkies ,pies and cakes all like 5 for a dollar ..
Food stamp participation in these stores is way way high !
Well, lets say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of socialism in the United States. According to this mornings sample it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long weighing approximately six-hundred pounds.
I believe most, if not all, were hoping Romney would win and provide a small light of hope.
Now there is no hope....
They are not getting “laid off”. Their jobs are being “eliminated”. Big Diff.
A government that can make you buy insurance can make you take out a loan to cover the added overhead of a union contract and force you to sign the union deal Don’t beleive me - just ask john roberts.
As I see it, these companies were hanging on by their fingernails, hoping for a POTUS who understood business. When Oblamer was declared the winner, these companies knew it was no use hanging on, and they threw in the towel!
...that’s a big twinkie......
A caller to yesterday’s Tom Sullivan Show claimed there are already buyers in line for the great Hostess line of product, and that Hostess route men who deliver the product need to keep relationships with their stores since the product will likely be rebooted under a different name. Conceivably a lay off may be dramatic but there would be a possibility that it could be short lived. Meanwhile, it’s a certainty that the media will flog the drama.
Very simple: the largest single cause of uncertainty in the business community right now is Obamacare, which Romney had vowed to repeal. Once Romney lost the election, businesses had to start implementing the layoff plans they had made just in case Obama won.
The strike went on and on, finally the company went out of business. Oh there is still an IH but they just sell other peoples stuff. Most of the strikers lost everything they had, their houses and many their marriages because of their stupidity.
Unions have gotten WAY too powerful. We did it to ourselves.
This morning I went to the Hostess outlet store here in Fort Worth and loaded up on Twinkies, Ding Dongs and cup cakes for old times sake. hey were out of pink SnowBalls.
A 600 pound Twinkie is approximately the size of a city block.
One biga$$ Twinkie.
I know folks hoped Romney would appeal obamacare, but I don’t think he could have or that there is political will to do so. If there were, there would be protests to get it done. I think Romney could have done other things to help business out and that is perhaps what business was hoping for.
The brand and products have value and will be sold. The buyer will not be a union shop.
I feel sad for the Hostess company and all the people working there who weren’t for the strike, union or not, as there’s always a decent percentage of folks in the union that aren’t for what the leadership is doing.
I am not sad there are thousands and thousands fewer union jobs - at least, not with a union as stupid as this.
One small bright spot in this is that these layoff will weaken unions, and be cutting their money/political power to lobby for democrats.
Or James Earl Jones.
That IS something he would do - “give” Hostess to the union.
but, but, but won’t obummmer bailout Hostess? WAAAAHHHHH!
So sorry for the owners and the workers of the company, but the owners warned the union and the workers took that risk.
So, if obummer wants to nationalize the Twinkie maker, then he can I guess. But the owners probably don’t want him to do that.
Can the fed govt force them to stay open? I don’t think so...
The ONLY solace I take is that Romney win was never going to me much of a 'win' in the first place.
He was no Reagan
And 70% of the primary voters tried to tell the GOP they wanted SOMEONE ELSE other than "Frontrunner" Mitt.
Uh. I, Twinkie, am sad that the Funny Monkeys on that morning show this morning yukked it up about Twinkie’s demise, and the loss of all those thousands of jobs. George Snotalotapus can just kiss my little Twinkie grits! RACISTS!! TWINKIE HATERS!!!
It can happen.
Right now we are living with government that tells businesses “You didn’t build that” and eminent domain and property tax laws that basically say “You pay taxes on it, but you don’t really own it if we want it or you miss a tax bill”, so it’s totally plausible they can tell a private business they cannot close their own doors.
Note nobody gives two craps about Solyndra going bankrupt, and this after hundreds of millions of dollars pumped in by the government that won’t be paid back. A union shop going down - well that is something the libtards crap their pants over.
The court cannot force the company's suppliers to sell to them on credit. So it looks like it is indeed over. Maybe the company will get sold intact (less the union contract). Let's hope so.
-everything would have been fine if dickless over there hadn’t shut off the power!
- is this true?
- yes, that man has no penis
My condolences, Twinkie. But, be comforted in knowing that your durability and longevity was immortalized in that comedy thriller, “Zombieland” where Woody H. searched ONLY for that one last Twinkie amidst the chaos!!!!
