Mitt Romney Debates President Obama And Candy Crowley
Political Realities ^ | 10/17/12 | LD Jackson

Mitt RomneyThe second of three presidential debates is behind us and although the town hall format is supposed to be more of a calm debate, it turned out to be anything but calm. It was downright rowdy at times and each side is claiming victory for their man. Here are a few observations from a supporter of Mitt Romney. Obviously, I believe he won the debate, or at least held the President to a draw, but it wasn't the kind of slam dunk that happened in Denver.

It's really hard for any political candidate to debate effectively when they are debating two opponents at the same time. That's what Mitt Romney had to do last night and he had his work cut out for him. I'm not convinced he completely pulled it off, but he gave it a good shot. Candy Crowley was clearly in the President's corner. It was never more obvious than in the exchange over Libya. The President told a bald-faced lie when he said he called the attack on our consulate an act of terror the day after it happened. He did no such thing and it seemed everyone in the building knew it, except for Candy Crowley. During the speech Obama gave in the Rose Garden after the attacks, he did not call the attack in Libya an act of terror. In the following days and weeks, he and his surrogates were all over the news shows and in front of the United Nations, making sure everyone one knew it was that stupid video. How long did it take them to admit they were wrong about that? About three weeks. How long did it take them to admit they have been openly lying to the American people about what they knew and when they knew it? To my recollection, we are still waiting for that part of the truth to emerge from their mouths. When Mitt Romney tried to call him out on that lie, Crowley shut him down. Some conservatives are claiming Romney failed to drive the point home, but what was he to do, tell the moderator to shut up and let him speak?

After the fact and during the aftermath of the debate, Candy Crowley admitted she was wrong and Mitt Romney was right. Too little, too late. About 60 million people watched as she took sides with the President on Libya and prevented Romney from making a completely valid point. The number of people who see her retraction is sure to be much smaller. That's what I mean when I say Mitt Romney was debating two opponents at the same time. It is also why I believe the Republican Party and any future presidential candidate should refuse to participate in future presidential debates, unless there are changes made to the process of selecting the moderators. Us allowing our candidates to be grilled and lectured by liberal moderators, with no chance of rebuttal, is just plain foolish.

Many of the debate previews wondered which line of attacks President Obama would use to corral the momentum Mitt Romney has experienced since the debate in Denver. Most of those previews mentioned the war on women, Bain Capital, and taxes and they were correct. Because the President can not run on his own record, because of the risk of exposing just how big of a failure he has been, he fell back on the same old attacks he has used all along. Let's take these one at a time.

Obama did his best to convince undecided voters, both in the debate hall and at home, that Mitt Romney wanted to prevent women from having access to contraception. That may have been the most outrageous claim he made all night. Romney wants no such thing. All he is saying is that religious organizations should not be forced to provide contraception to women, if their faith teaches against it. Not to mention that birth control can be obtained for little to no cost, no matter where you live in America. The President was telling another lie to try to paint Mitt Romney as an extremist. It is a sign of desperation for him to continue that line of attack.

The President also tried to sway undecided voters by reminding us that Mitt Romney was in the business of buying companies, loading them with debt, siphoning off the profits, laying off their workers, and then selling them to make more profit. At least, that's his version of Romney's record. Never mind that there isn't a shred of truth in his claims. Yes, some of the companies Bain Capital invested in were eventually closed. Many of them were not. This is nothing more than another attempt to distract voters from Obama's record, to point the finger at someone else.

Let's not forget taxes. President Obama was not bashful about continuing his attack on Mitt Romney on taxes. He reminds me of the old phonograph record player my Mom and Dad used to have in their house. Every once in a while, the needle would stick in one specific spot on the album and play the same words over and over and over. Throughout this campaign, Obama has attacked Mitt Romney on his taxes and what he plans to do with the tax code. To hear him tell it, Romney has paid very few taxes and wants to pay even less. If we are to believe the President, we would think the only thing on Romney's mind is to make the middle class pay more taxes, to allow himself, and the rest of the rich people in America, to pay even less than they are paying now. Another smoke and mirror tactic to distract our attention from Obama's own failed record.

All in all, the second presidential debate was probably a tie. Most observers seem to think the two men really don't like each other and they may be correct. Putting that aside, I believe more and more voters are realizing the real and stark differences between the two candidates. On one hand, we have President Obama, who wants to spend more and more money and who has overseen a failed foreign policy. On the other, we have Mitt Romney, who has a record of success, both in the private sector and in Massachusetts. This debate was not enough to derail the momentum Romney has building. If he can continue through October 22 and the last of the debates, he has more than a fair shot of defeating Barack Obama and having the opportunity to help heal and strengthen our country.

Losing the debate won’t matter. Who looked, carried themself and acted more Presidential? Romney by a long shot. Only fools are still on the fence and they would likely vote for the village idiot anyway.

There’s still one more debate as well. I would not be surpised if this one was low on the ratings considering the 1st.

On “The Five” tonight, I wonder how Dana Perino will handle this. She looooves Candy Crowley. She knooooows Candy will be fair. She’s a Candy Crowley “fan”.

Shep Smith, too. He pooh-poohed a GOP talking head who implied Candy would be partisan.

Yeah, Hussein got this HUGE grin on his face when his “moderator” partner came to his rescue.

But, the problem is, the dems won’t debate unless they get a moderator on their side. They know they can’t win without help. Republicans are smart to agree to those rules and still win even though they’re outnumbered on stage. It just shows how much stronger they are.

“I think we should flood CNN with complaints about the biased debate moderator - Crowley”

It’s a good idea, but the CNN people will “tee-hee” over each complaint; they’ve succeeded in sabotaging the debate and that was their goal.

I’m thinking about filing a claim with the White House for the replacement of our TV remotes. All the “mute” keys are worn out as a result of “quick draws” to silence the Muslim Socialist president when he opens his mouth. Everyone should flood the White House requesting replacement remotes.

how about the woman so called undecided saying she is not happy with the last 4 years but that is because of overseas and Bush\\\HUH WTH

Having the debate there with this moderator would be like having a debate with Levin and being held down south like SC

I too noticed at the end that most fo the crowd was all over obama and hsi wife and not even bothering with Romney.

The questions ,
AK 47’2
women’s pay
it was Bush fault and overseas actions. and how are you different from Bush because you are a republican.
Oh and lets not forget the immigration questions something like how are you goung to get rid of the illegals here crap

Crowley picked these questions, who picked this crowd because it was aeful.
The first two questions were good like the student asking about jobs but boy this debate was a joke and Romney still came out on top and caught obama lying and running away from his 4 years.

Also to mention , we’ve had a couple of trolls on here already saying Romney lost and time to move on and suck it up and this was going to cost Romney in the polls, so for ALL BEWARE OF TROLLS ON HERE

Mitt Romney Debates President Obama And Candy Crowley

Romney had to know this would happen and why the GOP debate people ever agreed to that horse is beyond me.

Am I understanding this correctly: Crowley told Romney he was wrong on what Obozo said , and the “random undecided” voters applauded her?

Thank you. Couldn’t watch more than half-hour. I can’t stand that stupid phoney format to begin with, and once the little girl asked about “women don’t make equal pay”, I was like, I’m done!

I think this stunt will turn out poorly for the Obozo-worshippers, though right now they may be crowing. Once the dust settles, the reality of how much most Americans distrust the media will translate to a bump for R/R in the polls.

I see this as a perfect example of why Romney will be a
superior President. Obama always needs some one covering his uninformed butt. He can't deal with tough question or statements or situations that come at him out of the blue. Romney has spent his life thinking on his feet, reacting to whatever has been thrown his way, in business and in politics. Obama is not a fast thinker. Some one has to do the thinking for him and tell him what his answer should be. Republicans are always thrown hardballs and are therefor tested constantly while Leftists are pitched underhand.

Candy Crowley was not a debate moderator, she was Obama’s tag-team partner.
