To the list of recent unsettling developments at DHS and other federal agencies -such as FEMA camp expansions, massive DHS ammo buys, a creepy new biometric surveillance system just being rolled-out by the FBI, and drones buzzing our backyards with cameras- we can now add the appearance across the country of not just heavily-armored military grade Humvees, but 'GLS' armored personnel carriers (APC's) such as in the picture above-
2500 of them to be exact.

According to reports the Department of Homeland Security is expecting significant push-back in the very near future, which explains why they already have thousands of heavily armored vehicles in DHS 'Police/Rescue' livery, resplendent in either a dashing Gulf War tan or menacing stealth-anthracite:

" What could they need equipment like this for here in the US? They are hitting the road with it. Caravans of National Guard equipment but with new never before seen equipment in the convoys. Take a close look at what is painted on the side of the Black Humvees. The Humvees are fully armored the same standard used by our military.

They've got a point- these things don't look like they're designed to be rescuing anybody, except maybe a pinned-down DHS agent in an upcoming civil war:

I wonder how likely it is that a newly elected president Mitt Romney will reverse all of this DHS bull crap. These vehicles (and the 1.2 billion rounds of ammo) are clear and present threats to the liberty of We The People.

Why is this a surprise to anyone? Obama stated, plain and clear, that he was going to create a Civilian National Defense Force as powerful as the military.

And recruits for this force will be carefully screened and psychologically profiled. Any applicants who may have qualms about obeying orders or firing upon who they're told to fire upon will not be hired.

This is the "Standing Army" that the founders warned us about, an army not for use against external threats, but for use against our own citizens as the means by which the federal government enforces its will.

I don’t think we should be aiming at their army, the LEO who is all geared up as a soldier. I think we should be aiming at their supervisors, their superiors, the man or woman who gave the orders to send these troopers out against the people. The man or woman wearing the best of business suits, the man or woman riding in the rear of the government vehicle that is driven by a state trooper.

We won’t give you reason to use the recently purchased 1.2 billion rounds of ammunition to kill American citizens. I don’t want to take DHS’s side, and we all see the nefarious purposes of such vehicles. They should have the posse comitatus act shoved down their throats.

But, what if DHS has decided that they are going to be unable to protect America’s cities to the extent that massive upheaval, in the face of forced mass evacuations are necessary? Let’s face it, we are grossly unprepared to have a dozen of our cities “dirty nuked” simultaneously. What if Iran, or some other terrorist entity came through Mexico with dozens of dirty radiological devices, and detonated several devices in a dozen of our largest cities? The resulting casualties from just the panic to get out would be massive. Of course the economic costs would devastate our already sick economy. I don’t have a good feeling about a civilian agency having such weaponry, but does it really matter, if they are already planning to violate the posse comitatus act, openly? I am not sure of the armour on these MRAP’s, but armor does provide some level of protection against radiation, especially the kind you would expect from a dirty nuke attack.
