Via Detroit Free Press: Lawmaker proposes presidental candidates to produce a birth certificate
A state House lawmaker introduced legislation today that would require candidates for president to produce a certified copy of his or her birth certificate to be eligible to appear on the Michigan ballot.
Rep. Mike Callton, R-Nashville, said the legislation was aimed at “clarify(ing) a constitutional question that has arisen about a number of presidential candidates,” and not about allegations surrounding the birthplace of President Barack Obama.
“I did not introduce this bill to continue the birther debate,” referring to those who have questioned whether Obama was born in the U.S. and eligible to hold the office of president, Callton said in a statement.
“I introduced this bill to end the birther debate. If this bill becomes law, the debate will end once and for all in September 2012.”
The so-called birther question has been pursued mostly on the political fringe since before Obama was elected, focusing largely on the documentation, or lack thereof, of his birth in Hawaii.

Well, now that Hawaii says it’s enforcing its 2001 law the no copy of any birth certificate can be obtained, does this mean that in order for Obama to be on the ballot he will actually have to possess the original himself or face not being listed on the ballot? Or is the battle cry gonna be “Hawaii says I can’t get a copy so you have to lost me anyway”??
Here's the cover logic:
Michigan needs to see the long form.
Hawaii won't release it.
Michigan insists and goes to court.
Barry's shysters say, "You don't need it since this is a re-election, and Barry IS the President so he MUST have been eligible for the first term."
See? Easy! Wrong, but easy.
It should be interesting as to how Michigan lawmakers weasel out of this one.
Every other legislature has, why should this be any different?

Sounds to me like a certified short form will be good enough to get on the ballot. I don't see Obama having any problem complying with this (in the event it actually passes).
Hawaii is full of crap and they know it. It is an arbitrary decision by the head Hawaiian DoH functionaries to only certify the short form COLB over the long form birth certificate for identification purposes.

What the hell is this? All candidates must “produce a certified copy of his or her birth certificate”? That’s what Hawaii considers its COLB to be so all this means is that Obama will submit his COLB and Michigan will accept it as a certified copy of his birth certificate. This law will do absolutely nothing to force him to prove his eligibility. Why are they so stupid as not to specify that all candidates are required to produce a copy of their LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE with a doctor’s name and signature and name of hospital. Idiots.

Perhaps looking at the actual bill and not an article from the lib Detroit Free Press will shed light on the Long Form Birth Certificate.
Even the long-form won’t be enough to prove “natural born” citizenship - both parents need to be citizens at the time of your birth. If I wanted to run for POTUS, I could produce my BC, but it shows that my Mom was born in Canada. So, as with the Donald, I would have to also show my Mom’s naturalization papers to show that information. Barry Soetoro admits in “Dreams from my Father” that he saw his BC (not this bogus one floating around now.
I am very disappointed in all the pundits supposedly on the “Rule of Law” side saying this is a peripheral issue. It goes to the heart of the depth of deception and lawlessness being perpetrated on my Nation.
