Here is video of Civil Rights Hero Rev. Joseph Lowery giving the benediction at President Barack Obama's inauguration today. At the very end of the benediction, Lowery prayed for the day when "black would not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead man, and when white would embrace what is right. Let all those who do justice and love mercy say 'Amen.'"
With all due respect to Rev. Lowery, his prayer for "white" people to do what is right is a good one. But it is a prayer that should be offered for all races of people, "to do what is right." And doing "what is right" just might begin with NOT using an inaugural benediction as a platform to single out one race of people for criticism. Rev. Lowery should be admired for his life-long struggle for equality for African-Americans, but this prayer was unfortunate in that it was used as a vehicle to criticize "white" people, a majority of whom voted to elect Barack Obama as President of the United States. How ironic that Lowery prayed for the day when "black would not be asked to get back," just minutes after Barack Obama became the President of the United States.

I pray for the day when black folks quit treating white folks like dirt.

Who does he think he is with all those Rhymes-—Jesse Jackson?
The 87-year old Rev. is living in another time and place, and that’s where he’ll likely always remain. His racist views are fossilized.
Until the chip is removed from the shoulder of people who cannot see past the past, racial relations will never heal.
mohammed ali had his rhymes too. look what it got for him.
he doesn’t seem to have much ‘color’.
This was an obvious reference to the protest song "Black, Brown and White," written by left-leaning blues singer Big Bill Broonzy and recorded in 1948 by Pete Seeger (Charter Records #C 40). Given its provenance, the song is probably not well-known in the conservative community.
He is a rapper from Compton.
Fossilized POS.
But I am already a conservative. Hey, does that mean he doesn’t like rich white libs?
Can you imagine the headlines tomorrow if this were the other way around? They’d start impeachment proceedings before the media was done with it.
