Socialism; say Yes or No
May 9 2008 | Bowtie52

The time has come for America to make a choice. The arch enemy of Socialism is Individual Rights. The 08 election has become a referendum that will determine which path America will take. As the primary issues are presented IE immigration, economy or the wars that are currently taking place, everyone wants to discuss the stance each candidate will take. The media will parse the words and regurgitate them in light of “how” the candidate has either voted or expressed himself on related issues. They might draw a line indicating that on “XYZ” issue the candidate is conservative or liberal but that’s as far as it goes. At no time are issues framed to reflect candidate’s response to individual rights VS communal rights. This is THE primary issue and the pabulum the media spews avoids even the words that describe it.

The government is not in place to guard “our” rights as Americans. Either we guard them or they go away as the government wants to absorb them more than “We the People” seem to. The First Amendment, the Right to Free Speech has been challenged to the point of mockery by Atheist groups, advocates for same sex marriage and flag burners etc. While judges occupy their time and energy with such nonsense, the Christian’s rights, as well as other groups have become severely curtailed. IE; High School students are told what they can and can’t say in a graduating address. Homeowners associations are busy telling us what is and isn’t permissible to do with OUR homes, which of OUR trees can and can’t be cut etc. The Federal and State confiscatory tax burden has become oppressive and been used to fund a social engineering agenda. In essence, the “right” to be an antonymous individual is becoming less and less valid. Every aspect of life has become controlled by some presiding authority. This election is THE tool our forefathers left us to reverse the trend.

This is not the Nation we inherited from our parent’s generation and it should not be the legacy we leave to our kids. The enemies of Freedom are everywhere. Their job is to usurp individual rights. To date, we, the Baby Boomers, have allowed it. How much further will we go with it? The antithesis of Socialism IS Individual rights. This includes the right to be left alone, unobserved, unburdened and independent. As we select a candidate in the 08 election, the choice is clear; the unbridled imposition of the nanny State or reclaiming our individual rights. How this takes place starts with the willingness to fight for what we believe as our forefathers were willing to do.

We have no choice. The media and the GOP elite have seen to that. Socialism under Hussein or Hillary, or socialism under Captain Queeg. All 3 are liberals committed to higher taxes and an ever more powerful federal government. McCain will rob us of our rights just as surely as Hillary or Hussein.

Excellent post, except for the reference to the ‘08 election (I assume you mean Presidential). Too late this time: At this time in the election cycle I can’t support anyone who is going to draw a minority of votes that potentially allows Obama to win.

What are we supposed to do since both the Republican and the Democratic candidates for POTUS are really socialists along with many other politicians at every level?

Ladies and Gentlemen....

I beg to differ. America has a choice. While our choice in Presidential candidates has somehow been dictated to us by some lame-brained dumbasses in the various parties, we certainly DO have a CHOICE.

We have a choice as free Americans to NOT take what is handed to us, or shoved down our throats. However, we DO have a system in which we need to work first.

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m going to vote for McCain.

And then I’m going to oppose him every step of the way, and I would urge you all to do the same when it comes to things like raising taxes, leaving our borders open and pulling us out of the rest of the world.

Americans need to understand that WE ARE STILL IN CHARGE OF OUR COUNTRY.

Those leftists who are incrementally attempting to change our children need to be stopped, and they need to be stopped LOUDLY and pointedly.

Some day, this may come to violence with the opposition - and I hope it doesn’t but you should chose your side carefully and thoughtfully and not continue hammering on McCain because you don’t like him.

It’s time to vote for what semblance of conservatism we have LEFT and force the new President to move as far right as we can force him to go.

Don’t give up, don’t give in to all the nay-sayers and don’t be a nay-sayer yourself. Let’s get this in high gear, put a “Republican” (even if he IS a RINO), he isn’t B. Hussein Obama” who is a dyed-in-the-wool SOCIALIST. We’re one step from being “Europeanized” folks!

Do NOT let that happen.

Kick CAIR out of this country.

Tell the ACLU to clam up.

Stop the schools from teaching political correctness.

Put someone in office who MIGHT be a liberal but certainly isn’t a Socialist.

Stop your damned BITCHING and get to work LOCALLY like the rest of us are doing, pushing for conservatives in Congress and other offices.

Stop worrying so much about the President, elect McCain and NOT Obama.

And We DO have a Choice, God BLESS America!

I plan to vote for McCain as well.

Unless he chooses Huckabee as his running mate.

One point about an item in your article.

People CHOOSE to purchase homes in subdivisions with HOAs. Thus, they have already, and voluntarily, answered “Socialism YES”. AFTER you settle on a house or property is the WRONG time to decide that you don’t like having someone else tell you what color your front door must be.

The ansewer is simple: Study carefully and DON’T buy a house or property anywhere where there is an HOA or POA. If enough people followed that advice, the HOA would Go Away!

“Socialism is the incremental takeover of society by its rulers Communism is socialism at gunpoint. Communists are socialists in a hurry”-— unknown

You reminded me of what a writer named Robert Ringer wrote in a precient book some decades ago titled "How To Find Happiness During the Fall of Western Civilization." He said.......

"A liberal is a closet Socialist, and a Socialist is a closet Communist."

I agree with what you have to say. Individual rights have died so slowly that most Americans are unaware of what they have lost. Even those who claim to care about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are often calling candidates that believe in those rights kooks and tards. Every day it seems more clear to me that those who really believe in the ideas espoused by our Founding Fathers are a shrinking minority. The nation of our founders is dead in every way but name only. It is not a matter of saving the nation and taking it back to its Constitutional designs, it is a matter of rebuilding it, or just forgetting about it.

He won’t do that. He has to have a running mate who can run as an incumbent on his own later. Huckabee is NOT that man.

I honestly wish someone would point blank ask McCain if he believes America needs a larger central government.

Sometimes people chose HOA areas BECAUSE they don’t understand the ramifications of doing so and the price is right. Don’t think they do it deliberately because they like socialism.

Currently my wife and I are planning a move out to the country, away from that sort of thing - since Colorado Springs, the last bastion of Conservatism in this area is FULL of nothing but housing developments that thrive on HOAs.

I can’t quite put my finger on why this is, which all these Capitalists here selling homes and forcing this crap down our throats.

I need ten acres and a nice, clear kill zone....

I agree with you but I fear it is already too late to enact your suggestions.

The time to set aside the politicians’ (judges included) interpretations of our beloved Constitution, and invoke our rights under the “Declaration of Independence” may be near.

THAT will be a hard one to pull off, however, with so many “nanny-staters” clogging up the country. I am starting to think that a majority of the people do not understand what self-reliance means. I’m almost CERTAIN that a majority of people in this country do not understand that RESPONSIBILITY is inextricably linked to FREEDOM, and that you can’t have the latter without the former.

"And We DO have a Choice..."

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better about voting FOR socialism. The choice has already been made and you're planning to ratify it.

Sometimes people chose HOA areas BECAUSE they don’t understand the ramifications of doing so and the price is right.

I've lived on a rural, 400 acre farm and I've lived in the suburbs. I love living in rural setting, but it's so much different than in the suburbs. If you live in the county, you don't need HOAs because you're so far from your neighbors that it's not a big deal. But if I'm in the suburbs, fifty feet from my neighbor, you better believe that I want an HOA. I have no desire for the value of my home to fall because my neighbor is too lazy to mow is lawn or because he's got his Camaro up on blocks in his drvieway.

I live next to a neighborhood that, while it has nice homes, doesn't appear to have a very effective HOA. It's a relatively new development and it doesn't seem to require homeowners to sod their lawns. As a result, there are a lot of lawns that have weeds and sparse, uneven growth. I don't want to live next door to my neighbor's crappy lawn because he was too cheap to spend a few grand on sod for his yard. Don't want any part of it.
