[history]
MELANIE Griffith made headlines in 2000 when she vowed to smoke pot with her son, Alexander, if he wanted to try it. And just two years later, she is ruing her decision.
"I said that if my son wanted to smoke pot, I would smoke it with him," Griffith told More magazine about Alexander, 17, her son by Steven Bauer. "I did - and it backfired. He liked it. Now he

Tell him the truth. Tell him that if he does drugs, he
will FAIL school. Ask him how many smart kids he knows
that do drugs. Tell him that, for now, he can't do them,
because you love him and you want him to succeed in school
which will help him succeed at life. Show him the types
of jobs that druggie students get. Show him the alternative.
Hug him, and do more stuff with him. Just he and you.
My 2 cents.
Thanks for the advice. This is what I do all the time and there are plenty of people on his moms side who are fine examples including his mom.
They are in and out of jail, dont have a pot to pee in, have yellow and black teeth and stink.
I am hoping that seeing the difference between that side and my friends will make a huge impact.

I would say that anything that you are so obsessed with that you post daily about it like Jedi Girl, must be one hell of an addictive substance.

Um. I've never said that marijuana was not psychologically addictive. You are lying.

:-D I rarely smoke it. I just think the debate is interesting and that it's important to tear down government lies and excess. The WOD is a waste of money, lives, and man power. If anything, focus more on the likes of heroin, etc, not marijuana.

"the biggest pot smoker in our school got a full scholarship"
If we are telling stories:
My best boyhood friend graduated from high school in 1964 and went on to get a masters degree. He never touched any kind of drug until he was about 27 when he started pot with a group in his grad school.
He was married and had one small child and he started "partying" with pot heads on an daily basis. Soon he lost his job, then his wife and then his home. Through it all he would confirm that pot had no effect on his life and it was the stupid people around him who didn't understand the person he had become.
He became a homeless street person and prefers to live tht way although his health is ruined and he continues to smoke all the marijuana he can get his hands on. It is a wasted life but his dedication to marijuana clouds any rational thought.

You're right. Truth IS addictive.

Use weazel-words all you wish. I've said, repeatedly, it is addictive. You've said "no, it's not."
Now you try to make some sort of synthetic distinction between "psychological" and "physical" addiction. I make no such distinction because it's a distinction without a difference.
I REPEAT: I've said "it's addictive." You've said "no, it is not addictive."
Glad to see you coming partially to your senses, anyway. If you ever manage to kick your pot habit you may find the world looks a lot more different than you ever imagined.

And so what? The guy's an arsehole. It's quite obvious. Okay, I know several people with masters degrees who continue to smoke pot and haven't fecked up their lives. This guy was apparently pretty weak and not as intelligent as you make out.

Thanks. I knew a lot of pot-heads in high school and college. The ones who outgrew it went on to good lives. The ones (my sister included) who never could, were and are losers to this day--those who are still alive.
This stuff is monstrous, and those who try to belittle efforts to curb its use and to continue criminal penalties for dealing it are ostriches.

You sound JUST LIKE every addict I've ever known--and in fact, like the guy that BAYCB was describing: "The problem is NOT my addiction--pot, alcohol, whatever."

Twelve Steps for what? "Everyone knows" that pot is NOT addictive Maybe you guys are right about pot, I always believed it wasn't that dangerous because I've known people who used it and quit it easily enough. I never bothered to find out first hand and so far my kids don't seem inclined to use it ---even though I've been telling them it's probably not real dangerous but why do any drugs --I tell them not to look for the artificial highs.

Illbay....ah, c'mon....we have to remember, JediGirl is just that .... a "girl".....she has about 20 years till adulthood, give or take 10 years, and whether she wants to grow up....
To: FITZ
I tell them not to look for the artificial highs. Watch out for the "It natural not artificial" people. God gave us that stuff (ignore the continued hyperupbreeding of certain chemical components in it).

Okay, I know several people with masters degrees who continue to smoke pot and haven't fecked up their lives. And I know an 80 year old that has smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day since he was 14. I'm sure that many freepers know someone like that as well. Does that vindicate cigarettes?

sipping only coffee and smoking a plethora of [nicotine] cigarettes during the interview...a sure sign of aa and the inevitable fall from the wagon. I hate aa and the sober alcholics I know do too. I attended many meetings with my friend who was a sponsor. I did this as a favor to him so that we could come back during non meeting times and use the facilities for our recreation. During those aa meeting there was nothing but drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes, and boasting about the times spent in stupors. Most of the people who promoted aa generally went on a binge every couple of months or so. The non aa sober alcoholics I know never went back. I have been sober 23 and a half years and have never gone to an aa meeting as a participant. aa makes addicts dependent on aa. It is the sorriest organization around, second only to the democRATS.
