When I first came to FreeRepublic, I was new to posting on forums.  Boy, talk about baptism by FIRE!  But I quickly found out that there was a wealth of information AND OPINION available and I fell in love with the mental jousting that takes place here on FR.  It became addicting and here I am 15 years later still posting. It's one of my favorite sites on the WEB and I've made some wonderful acquaintances. I love making new friends and chatting about anything and everything: especially about our lives as kids.

As a child I have many fond memories....

The Good Humor man,
The corner store.
Hide and go seek at dusk.
Sittin' on the porch (especially to watch a thunderstorm),
Playing Simon Says and Kick the Can,
Penny candy from the corner store
Roller skates with keys,
Dodgeball,
Red Rover

wax lips and mustaches,
Mary Janes, White Bucks and Penny Loafers, and Coke bottles with the names of cities on the bottom.  When around the corner seemed far away; and going downtown seemed like going somewhere. Climbing trees, making forts...backyard shows, lemonade stands, Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, sittin' on the curb, staring at clouds, my first bicycle, jumping down the steps, jumping on the bed, getting companyat home, Halloween, walking to church, walking to the movie Theater,..I remember being tickled to death, and running till I was out of breath, and laughing so hard that my stomach hurt... and being tired from playin'? Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.  Indian wrestling and arm wrestling and tackle football without gear.

Watching Saturday Morning cartoons... short commercials, Heckle and Jeckle, the Road Runner, and Bugs Bunny....
Tarzan, The Three Stooges, Howdy Doody, The Little Rascals, Andy's Gang, and Popeye.
Listening to Superman and Uncle Remus; the Shadow and the Inner Sanctum on the radio.
Listening to the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports Friday Night Fight's with Pop and his buddy Russ.
A million mosquito bites. Sticky fingers. Homemade ice cream.
Building igloos out of snow banks.
Walking to school, no matter what the weather.

Candy cigarettes, Wax coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside,
Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles, Coffee shops with juke boxes at the tables;
Home milk delivery in glass bottles, with cardboard stoppers and a bread man who delivered not only bread but pastries too!

Valentine's Day was important, passing around cards in class, and the tiny candy hearts with sayings on them.

Watching American Bandstand on our 14 inch TV.
Listening to my older brothers LPs
The Platters, The Shirells, Dion and the Belmonts
Paull Anka, Bobby Vinton, The Coasters, Richie Valens
Little Richard, The Chantel, Martha and the Vandellas

Beanie and Cecil, Drive-ins,
wash tub wringers, the Fuller Brush man, reel-to-reel tape recorders,
the Erector Set, Lincoln Logs, 15 cent McDonald hamburgers,
5 cent packs of baseball cards...with that awful pink slab of bubblegum, Penny candy;
25 cent-a-gallon gasoline.

I loved being in the Boy Scouts, camping, merit badges, jamborees

I loved being an Altar Boy from age 6 to 18

Those were days for fond memories.

John Wayne is my childhood idol and remains that 'til today. They don't make them like "The Duke" anymore.

I love Country music...Odd for a Rhode Islander.

I'm a Deacon in the Catholic Church.

I'm traditional in many ways and do not find any common ground with leftist/progressive ideologies.

I am an ardent foe of Socialism and any forms of government that are contrary to the Constitution of the United States.

I was born democrat (Please forgive me) but my last vote for a democrat was for the peanut farmer.  Any liberal ideas I may have had died, never to rise again, in 1980 when I wholeheartedly voted for Ronald Reagan who was and is one of my heros.

I shoot skeet, make homemade wine, love to grill and smoke BBQ, do a little woodworking, love dogs and horses.

Besides working in my parish, I also have a prison ministry.
