[history]
Since the Sept. 11 massacre, there have been numerous press reports about Bill Clinton's attendance at funerals, visits to the rescue site, and his other activities as a former president. What the media have largely overlooked is the extent to which Mr. Clinton can be held culpable for not doing enough when he was commander in chief to combat the terrorists who wound up attacking the World Trade Center and Pentagon. If we're serious about avoiding past mistakes and improving national security, we can't duck some serious questions about Mr. Clinton's presidency.

"Before the latest catastrophe there was a distinct lack of political will to resolve the bin Laden problem and this had a negative impact on wider intelligence operations." In other words, Clinton chickened out. Perhaps his most important failure, but then, there are so many to choose from.
I think it was Jim McDougal that remarked on the Clintons' ability to leave a path of destruction in their wake.
You have to believe that H!llary, at least, is not immune to the connect-the-dots that has that path of destruction leading into her own fron yard.
If it was anyone else, anywhere else, it might be hysterically funny.
It's not.

Thanks for posting this. It is an absolutely iron-clad indictment of the national security and intelligence failures of the Clintonoids. And Rush has the guts to say so, for which he'll no doubt be attacked by the mainstream media which is still slobbering all over Clinton. I say: GO RUSH GO!

Why do you resort to this stuff? We're having a good discussion about an excellent and gutsy piece Rush wrote in the Wall Street Journal, and you unload a cheap shot. If you want to look like a jerk, you have every right to do so. But what a waste of time and effort.

Rush is still the best. Thanks for posting this one.

It's obivious that many posters screwup a perfectly good thread with their futile attempts at being "class clowns". Most need to grow up.

Great post.

Hillary said:
My memory is that those assets proved unreliable and were not able to form the basis of the plan that we were considering launching. Who is this "we"?
As a Jane's source put it: "Before the latest catastrophe there was a distinct lack of political will to resolve the bin Laden problem and this had a negative impact on wider intelligence operations."
Exactly. Precisely. Tragically true.
Bill Clinton had "enough national tragedies" to be a great president,
assuming that is a criterion.
What he lacked was the ability and desire to lead during times of national crisis and tragedy,
perhaps because he WAS our biggest national tragedy at the time.

It is incredible that we as a Nation watched the Bin Laden escalation of terrorism in slow motion and did zip to prevent the inevitable next attack. We collectively decided that the warning shot over the bow (the first attempt at toppling the twin towers) was to be ignored. It was too difficult to solve.
Why wouldn't the people allow the military to respond? Lack of leadership. Clinton on down. Not only his cabinet, but his advisors from acadameia to Hollywood would allow no response.
But, I don't blame Clinton. Something we've done as a Nation, allows this left-thought to prosper and weaken our resolve. The 9/11 wake up call has momentarily erased it.
To: Pokey78
Yeah,
I sent a thanks to Sen. Hill and Co Sen. Bill for destroying our nation and military over the last eight years. I hope they enjoy the fruits of their labors.

Bush brought this waste of skin back for Australia in a military aircraft, then a whole bagful of photo-ops and interviews are lined up for him. Why? (Rhetorical)
Now Mush Bombastic Limbauch is doing his part to keep this ongoing Arkansas fart in our face.
Good 'ole Maharichi FlubberLips. Thanks for your numbnut suggestion to America that this obsession with the attack on America was holding back important stories getting 2nd and 3rd coverage; that "....we need to move on....", you twit.
Mush and Bill Maher. Poster twins for America's left and right ignorance is bliss partisans.
They both need to stop suggesting to America how brilliant this rapist was as president - tell it instead to all the women he brutalized, assaulted and violated; tell it to the innocent ears of young America both of them caused to be violated by their detailed regurgitation of this scumbag's crimes over the public airwaves, you narcissistic motor mouths.
If it's filth you enjoy talking about, focus on the sex shops in America and the affect of the porno industry on the nation's youth.
FOR THE GOOD OF AMERICA, GET OFF THE CLINTON THING ALREADY.
HE'S A CRIMINAL WHO RUBBED OUR NOSES IN HIS CRIMINAL FILTH; THEN LIED TO US, THE COURTS, AND LIED BEFORE GOD.
America deserves better, but your subject focus says neither of you give a damn. You've got your own agenda, and responsibility is an absent consideration.

I don't think anyone here should be bashing clinton intill bush shows some action. As of yet nothing has been done and rangers scouting landing sites for planes and operations that we won't see don't count.
