[history]
The suicide air strikes on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon have been compared to Pearl Harbor, not only because the surprise assaults killed thousands, but because they "awakened the sleeping giant" and mobilized the American public to wage war.

No, this was not like Pearl Harbor. It was three times as bad. It is now clear that most of the victims were vaporized in a holocaust.

Men who do not believe in a "world without borders" showed they could exploit the vulnerabilities of those who do. Oh they believe in a world without borders all right. Chock full of Islam.

Re #1 Petty and irresponsible it is. Globalists, exuding with greed and shallow confidence. Your time is about to be over. Of course, nations will interact more now than in the past. But whatever arrangements about rules of interactions will be devised by nations, no group of people should come out and plow an autobahn that only suits them but not others. Their attitude of viewing apsects of society other than business as pure obstacles shows that their view is rather limited. Good article.

Its most absurd example was Norman Angell, who in 1913 published "The Grand Illusion," which argued that war had been rendered impossible by economic interdependence. This idiotic idea has been advocated by many on the right and and left. I am still waiting for the WSJ editorial board to repudiate their neo-con mumbo jumbo economic theories.

For the last decade, the "globalized" business community has been sending a clear signal that America can be manipulated. Business lobbies led by the National Foreign Trade Council, the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable have worked to remove sanctions from anti-American regimes, rogue states and sponsors of terrorism and to pump in billions from trade and investment to finance their bellicose ambitions. They have pushed to lift restrictions on "dual use" military-related technology sales to rogue states. And as far as I am concerned, many of our elite business leaders are just as guilty of treason as those on the Left who despise this country.

The business view of the world did not motivate those who attacked the WTC; but it also didn't motivate those who rushed to rescue the victims, hundreds of whom subsequently died in heroic action. It will not motivate those Americans who will risk their lives to carry out this country's righteous retribution. Correct. The business view of the world is sufficient inside one civilization, such as the Western Civilization. We should be prepared to rely on force when dealing with civilizational threats.

John,
See how the usual for many method of italicizing a quote one is responding to doesn't work with the new styles.
blockquote tag now italicizes. How to we indent?
I relied a lot on italicizing short quotes and indenting large quotes.
