That's the thing. Feeding dropped off drastically (birds and squirrels) for the summer. We were unprepared because we feed all year round (as you should) but not everyone does. We'll be better prepared next year. We have a lot of "firsts" to learn from during this first year.

I know quality is better than quantity.
I hope our chattering away here will be quality discourse as well.

Hey, even our chit-chat is better than most!

Last night I was watching Bittygirl while Msdrby and Spiderboy went to a meeting.
I had Bittygirl in my office with me, and the door closed so she wouldn't tote anything away. She was playing with a wad of old keys, and kept trying to "unlock" the door with them.
To: Professional Engineer
LOL
Our Bittygirl will not be fenced in!

The "special equipment" is one of those little metal clickers or crickets with the tiny piece of flexible metal in it that clicks as you push and release it. You know, one of these . . . That would drive me right up the wall. That's worse that "Walkies!" LOL

No she won't. She doesn't like the gate at the top of the stairs either.
To: Professional Engineer
LOL. Hobbit Lass used to lock us out of rooms. Once she locked me in the basement. I called my Mom, who called Hubby, who was on the second floor and couldn't hear me. We have keys hidden in every room--still!

Oh, you'll get used to it. < g > They aren't that loud.
I started "walkies" with my dog as a joke . . . what a mistake.

The late lamented dog trainer Barbara Woodhouse (author of
No Bad Dogs) used to trill "Walkies!" in that grating upper class British accent when she took a dog for a walk.
The two things that get my dog hopping up and down like a demented pogo stick are "Walkies!" and "Supper!"

My wife feeds all year. I notice that feeding materials last a long time in the summer, maybe twenty times longer.
When people run to get indoors instead of run outside to play there will be a cry of "Oh, those poor birdies!".
Pray for bad weather!! Freezing rain! Ice storm! Then a nice below zero sunny day with mild winds!
You will sell out.

I'm sorry to see you go, FReeper Foxhole.
(I'm posting from the library where the computers have much more power than my home internet system, therefore I can respond to this thread. Usually my home system "freezes" due to the large bandwith of this thread.)
