I never actually got to fire off a WP grenade, but I decided I was only going to throw it inside someplace I was not, like inside an enemy gun tube or P.C. or tank.

That was my thought too.
If it melted that engine block, I didn't want it anywhere near me.

What? Did you have to take the escape pod to keep President Billy Jeff away from your intern?

Hi Snippy! The foxhole is warm and sunny today, after a skiff of snow yesterday.

Maybe I got blast radius confused with danger area. There were days in basic when I wasn't paying all that much attention.

Well, with something that burns and explodes, what is the difference?
*chuckle*
But I did find it odd that they called it a grenade, and it didn't explode the way one expected a grenade to explode.

Guarnere sounded like a pretty interesting character in the book.

Excellent thread SAM and snippy!!!
I trotted out a special tagline for it.
Sgts Joe Toye and Bill Guarnere each lost a leg at Bastogne and Lt Buck Compton had a nervous breakdown. (according to the HBO version)I got the complete miniseries on DVD for Christmas.

I thought Damian Lewis did an excellent job of portraying Lt. Winters.

Never used a WP grenade. The 4.2 mortar would fire them though.

I don't know if he's "officially" up for the MOH, there is a movement to get it for him though.
