I thought Al Gore invented Hitler

I had a suspicion about this Hitler allegation. Why? Because if you ever meet Germans or Austrians they are almost always wary of ANY talk about WWII or Hitler. They will either not talk or try to change the subject. Maybe they talk about these topics among themselves but with Americans it seems to be a taboo subject and they are very uncomfortable with it. Okay, I do know of one exception: an older Austrian guy I knew that was called the Mad Austrian (he called himself "Karl mit der K!") He would go on and on about how great Hitler was. Then when asked what he did in WWII he said he was drafted into the Wehrmacht at the age of 15 in 1945. The first thing he did upon entering the army was to DESERT.

Tom Lantos - Socialist!
http://bernie.house.gov/pc/members.asp "The Congressmen of the Progressive Caucus maintain a fig leaf of deniability regarding their Socialist orientation. Rather than calling themselves socialists, with all that label implies, members of the caucus along with their affiliates, the Democratic Socialists of America and the Institute of Policy Studies, prefer to hide behind euphemisms like "progressive" or non-partisan think tank"
"The Democratic Socialists of America have adopted the term "international social order" to describe their age-old goal of a one-world government. Their vision of a socialist world calls for the "equitable distribution of resources" by which they mean the plundering of the American middle-class and the transferring of their fruits to corrupt international socialist and communist friends. In Their megalomania, they seek to regulate such things as "gender and racial equality" and "non-oppressive relationships." These American Congressmen, elected to uphold the constitution, advocate this alien agenda and are implementing it gradually."

It is about as tough nowadays to hear a German or Austrian to speak in praise of Hitler as it is to find an older white southerner speaking in praise of segregation. You won't find any Theodore Bilbo nostalgia in the South.

Butler said his transcribers had had difficulty rendering Schwarzeneggers remarks because of his accent and said the only way to resolve the discrepancy was to listen to the tapes, which are in Schwarzeneggers possession. This Nazi smear is pretty pathetic.
As far as the above quote, it is telling of Schwarzenegger. He is shrewd and guards himself. He has aides sign confidentiality forms. This is standard for Hollywood stars. Schwarzenegger has though also done this for campaign workers -- that is a first.
He owns the rights to Pumping Iron and has not made it available. It has him smoking dope and the like -- images that can effect an election if shown over and over on TV.
He will release it after he wins. Pretty convenient.

We do business in Austria and Germany and you are dead on correct. It is a verboten subject - nobody talks about unless they know you really well - it is not casual conversation by any stretch. And those that will talk about it are also the ones that will tell you that pockets of Nazism (old school) still exist in at least Germany.

Lantos carries his crying bag around and the man is a low life.
To: SF Republican
No, get it right - the LA Times invented Gore, who invented the NY Times, that invented Hitler, who invented Russ Limbaugh who fathered a love child who later fell in love with Jefferson who under the spell of Datura and hemp invented the United States without God...this is true because Bustamonte brother said it while thugging out the Indians during their run to the World Series in 1954 ...

"I thought Al Gore invented Hitler"
No you got it wrong. Al Gore was the basis for Mein Kampf.
To: Russ
Tom Lantos is one of the better Democrats. He was always basically sound on foreign affairs.
This is, however, very thin-skinned of him.
