You don't have to do it that way. But that's almost always the direction those clubs take. You see it in the black and latino clubs --- they start trying to find their "heritage", or cultural roots ---- which most of the time they get wrong anyhow. They decide the pagan gods like Queztalcoatl are better to worship and they usually start heading into separatists movements.
Really what are the Caucasian cultural roots? Some split off group a long time ago that came from the Caucas mountain area of India that began moving out of Asia and the middle east?
Still if others can have their clubs ---- it's okay for those who consider themselves Caucasians to have one. I don't really believe in race myself.

That's one reason I think really it's a dumb idea --- just like all these racist clubs are. You have to go back to your "roots" which are usually pagan and barbaric.Considering how politically-correct this kid's explanation of her motives is, I tend to agree with you.
A "Melting Pot" club would be a better idea, focusing on the positive contributions of caucasian/early European immigrants to America. They may even learn some American history along the way.

I like the idea of a Melting Pot club. A club that would say it doesn't matter where you came from, it only matters where you're going. Give up your ancestor worship, your pagan gods, your barbaric ways, learn the common language and become an American.

Larischa Dorton, 16, and Kelly Andrews, 14, members of Freedom High's Black Student Union, heard about Lisa from BET (Black Entertainment Television) Wednesday night and see nothing wrong with her idea. At least they get it.

"What is white culture? What are we proud of?" asked senior Clint Simons, 17, who said not many people would want to join a Caucasian Club. "What will people do? Dance the electric slide?"
Prodigal Son wrote:
Whether it be the Highland Fling or the Polka or Germanic tribal beliefs or Nordic legends, there is a huge body of white culture out there waiting to be found and this student's ignorance of it is probably the most effective argument for having a Caucasian Club.
I strongly agree.
To: Prodigal Son
The whole idea of having cultural clubs but not allowing whites to have one is a form of reconstructing history and discrimination- and it's wrong. Whites can be just as proud of their cultural background as any other group.
Yes, they can. But many have been indoctrinated in white guilt and white shame like our fine fellow from the article. It is ignorance; a living ignorance that is being fed. Instead of being dispelled with and replaced by truth, it is growing and it is spreading.

DIDN'T FIT IN OTHER GROUPS Lisa, according to her mother, grew up embracing diversity, but she came home from the start of school upset that she didn't fit in the Black Student Union, Latinos Unidos or the ALOHA Club. There was the Power of Unity Club, an umbrella group that oversees all the school's cultural groups, but Lisa didn't want to join that, either. The only club Lisa signed up for, Neely said, was the Gay-Straight Alliance. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is running for Governor of California, is against vouchers.
Can people see why he doesn't get support from a lot of us.
To: Sub-Driver
To Lisa, the logic is simple: If there is a Black Student Union for African Americans, a Latinos Unidos for Latin Americans and an ALOHA Club for Asian Americans, then why can't there be a Caucasian Club at her school? That is a good question. With PC so deeply ingrained in our society, I wonder if it will fly? I hope it does.

Not that long ago they roamed the forests of Europe, hunting with spears just like any other tribal people. Well if 2000 years is "not that long ago" I guess I agree. Europeans were a few thousand years ahead of American Indians who were essentially stone-age. Europe had passed throught the Bronze Age, The Iron Age and the Age of Gunpowder when they arrived in America, a place they got to based on a correct superior sail boats and navigation, and a correct understanding of the physical nature of the world.

"It's not culturally sensitive to the community we're addressing, especially in light of what had happened there before," said Darnell Turner, the chapter's vice president. "The club, in name, seems like a backdoor approach to separation. From a historical perspective, this will bring up fears." Uhhhh.....The National Association Of Colored People is worried about separation???? This is too weird.

Anyone who goes against this young lady's endeavor is a RACIST and all whites should take it as being such. Those who become vocal and are against this club should be identified publicly and openly disgraced.

To Lisa, the logic is simple: If there is a Black Student Union for African Americans, a Latinos Unidos for Latin Americans and an ALOHA Club for Asian Americans, then why can't there be a Caucasian Club at her school? Because there's enough segregation in the schools as it is! Asian-americans are americans, hispanic-americans are americans. End segregation.

I think it is a perfectly legitimate idea. IF Lisa wants to start a club to learn and celebrate her Caucasian background and invite others to join her I see absolutely, positively nothing wrong with it. What's the fuss about?
To: Sub-Driver
What a bunch of hypocrites. Saying this name is not PC but saying the black club, etc. is named PC.
Sickening.
