Checking in....................

Power and phones went out @ ~5 PM last night.

Candles, talk radio, a steak fried in a pan, and a large glass of milk were the evening fare as the rain came down and the wind blew.

Personally, I didn't think it was that bad. I stood at my open front door and watched it rain, then went to bed early.

Surpisingly, I was awoken @ 5 AM this morning by a blinking light from my electric alarm-clock saying it needed to be set, since the power was back on.

I could hear chain saws all day from various parts of the neighborhood as people cleaned up the mess. The police are still directing traffic on the 'main drag' here as some areas still don't have power and the street lights don't work.

Got a chance to go to the gym and do a hellacious 2 1/2 hour workout today on the jogging machine and weights.

Still no cable also as I sit here.

G'night all.

Power is still off in most areas surrounding the Richmond, Virginia.

Phone reports from parents (finally got thru via cell phone) in Wmsburg area: No power w/ none in foreseeable future, damage to the roof of their house, water line broken and spewing all over at business (outside). Don't know condition of boat kept in Hampton yet, keeping the fingers crossed (rockfish season about to start, no boat? the horror!).

Northwest of Richmond where I live, power still off in most places, ours came back on sometime Friday night, but its still off less than a mile away. Lots of neighbors have houses packed with relatives from all over.

My father-in-law was of the lucky 6% who never lost power; he lives about 5 miles away.

Trees are down everywhere, but 6 empty plastic trash cans never moved an inch, go figure.

My house is OK.

Here are a few pics from the Hunton, Elmont, and Hanover Air Park area:

Feeling pretty lucky here in Western Henrico. Eight trees down, none hit the house. Some damage to an outbuilding and one of the cars.

Power came back on Friday afternoon, water on Saturday. Cleanup ongoing.

The worst of it hit between 2-6 am Friday morning in Lancaster County, PA. 40 mph winds with gusts to 60mph. Had a 60 foot tree go down, but fortunately it fell away from the house. Power was out until 8:30 pm Saturday, and we were lucky - some folks in the area won't have power until Wednesday. The outages were fairly spotty in our area, so we called upon all of our mountain survival skills and went out for pizza once the roads were cleared of trees.

This suburban Maryland Freeper is okay and has power once again. Lost it Thu midnight, got it back Sunday evening.

Good thing it wasn't a "real" hurricane by the time it hit my place.

Had power restored monday 12pm.
Having a cook out now, Bar-b-Q Beef, Pork, Chicken.
Lots of trees down here and several homes with severe water damage.
No loss of life.
Thank God.
