My Grandfather would tell the story of getting into a bar fight with Sir Graves. Don't know if it actually happened, but I laugh everytime I think about it.

Mark "The Bird" FydrichHow could I forget that!
After he blew out his arm, I think he started a swimming pool construction business. Years later, he had surgery to fix his shoulder, and pitched either American Legion or Babe Ruth League for a number of years. Imagine, with the miracle of modern surgery, his blown shoulder would have been a one-year blip, rather than a career-ender. Or, if the Tigers' management had enough sense to pull a rookie out of a game when he was overextended. Fid just wouldn't quit, he went all out on every pitch. What a character. It would make a good movie.

I will get details about the Rouge river fire from my husband when he gets in. I remember hearing that story about the girl and the knocking. there are LOTs of "Haunted Detroit" stories. I think someone actually wrote a book about all of the spooky Detroit legends.
One of the radio stations a few years back had people call in on Halloween and tell their ghost stories from the area.
Do you know about ELOISE?

Lenny,
Yes! Byron MacGregor! How could I have forgotten the name? Thank you for remembering
I encourage every one who can to listen to this piece. "Tribute to the Americans" It's great, and proves that not ALL Canadians despise us.

We lived in Berkley just two blocks up from Woodward. People in our neighborhood were scared that the rioters would come sweeping down Woodward and burn us out.
I lived in a cop neighborhood and I remember a lot of the guys on out block, sitting in lawnchairs or on thier porches, armed with shot-guns and rifles and listening to their transistor radios to keep track of what was happening
You could smell the burning for miles.

kids you went to school with? Most of the kids, with which, I went to school,
wouldn't end their sentences with a prepostion.
Rich?? Until we moved to the burbs I lived on Front Ave.
That was taken out by Urban Renewal when they built the 131 expressway.
Speaking of Barry's kid, he was present at the fire which killed Thunder I.

Having been a product of the GR Public School system, I feel quite at home ending my sentences with prepositions, all except 'H'.
....oh wait a minute, that's "Preparation".

You remember Wayne Fontes, and wish he was back!LOL, I said the same thing about Monte Clark for years. But it looks like they are in good hands with Mariucci.
To: tiamat
You remember Willie Horton as they guy who lead the Tigers to the 68 World Series Championship, and not as the guy that Mike Dukakis let go.

You remember a time when the majority of the homes along the highway weren't abandoned, or condemned.

Most of the kids, with which, I went to school, wouldn't end their sentences with a prepostion.Yes, and they would have said "with whom," rather than "with which," and they wouldn't have added superfluous commas around either "with whom" or "with which" and after "school," and they would have spelled "preposition" correctly.
I know just the kind of kids you mean. ;-)

I've lived in LA since 72 and can't believe I went through those cold cold winters. Nothing like the falls and some of the beautiful winter scenes. Still so cold. The summers are so shortI've been here since '72 and still can't believe I left S. Calif. for this! Boy, was I stupid...
