"There is a Jesus in every city on the planet...

Why this one incident makes news is curious. "

Because most of them milk money out of the followers and this one isn't. I really do try to keep an open mind about people like this because you never know when one of them might actually be the one. But the fact that he never mentions God or the afterlife once makes me sceptical.

For their safety's sake (since i really don't wish any harm on them) I hope they don't make a commune here in the US. We don't need another Waco.

One word of caution to prospective followers of 'Jesus of Siberia'.

Kool-aid.

Don't drink it.

Jesus didn't testify on his own behalf. He didn't impose dietary restrictions and he was never a hermit except to pray.

.

We have had plenty of messianic figures in America, so it’s about time that Russia and Europe have their share.

Just off the top of my head, I remember that the 19th Century gave us:

Mary Eddy Baker (Christian Science)

Joseph Smith (Mormons or Latter-Day Saints)

Charles Taze Russell (Jehovah’s Witnesses or Bible Students)

The 20th Century had other American religious pioneers:
L. Ron Hubbard (Scientology or Dienetics)

Herbert Armstrong (Worldwide Church of God)

Kip McKean (International Church of Christ or Boston Movement)

It seems that the older the religious sect, the more respect it gets.

While many people still make fun of Scientology, not that many mock Christian Science. Similarly, the Mormons have become almost mainstream, forming coalitions with traditional Christians who still deride the Worldwide Church of God.

If this Russian Messiah starts his own denomination, in a few decades he will be regarded as a religious leader and not as kook.

Yeah, Jesus got that one right. Any holy man who thinks he is, isn't.

There is a Jesus in every city on the planet...

Why this one incident makes news is curious.

Yes, usually the only time they make the news is when Janet Reno orders the FBI to burn their house down or something...

Good points.

You may not be aware that Russia, a country/culture dedicated to forms of extreme mysticism, has already given us similar nutcases.
A few years ago some crazy woman decided SHE was Jesus, and started heading with a following of some few thousand strong to Moscow to be crucified.
Some of her followers liked to set fire to themselves and/or crucify each other.

I wouldn't consider myself to be brilliant by any means but if this were proposed in my church, I would have to object (or at least say "You Go Fisrt" to the one raising the idea).

...."What about the the Holy Shroud of Turin?".....

What chapter and verse is that in? I musta missed it. That has pretty much been pooh poohed as from the 12th century or so. I don't believe rags can be holy. Otherwise rev Tilton( or whatever his name is) woulda got my $20 for a prayer cloth. People and places can be holy because God has set them apart. If you dwell on pictures and statues of a supposed "Christ", you will miss the real Christ. That is why the Scriptures give no description of Him, other than to say He was unremarkable in appearence.

This guy is fishing in the wrong pond. He should head to California.

He left Cal and headed back home to New Jersey.

This is the second article I have read about him. There must be something about him that warrants two different articles.

Jesus of Siberia....not to confused with Jesus of Montreal.

Not to be confused with Jesus of Nazareth, either.
