Some lights and power are coming back on in NY as we speak. You can see lights in buildings now.

I notice that there are lights in buildings in places, but I see no street lights or stoplights.

(Paraphrasing): Davis says power outage won't effect California

You asked: "How long to restart a Nuke?" if it just "tripped off" as a safety measure, we are definitely talking hours, not days, to restart -- maybe even just a few minutes.

I don't think you're considering NRC red tape, nor the complex startup procedure that is the nature of nuclear plants. There's quite a few supercritical coal-fired plants that can't be restarted for nearly a day after a forced shutdown at full load. I can almost guarantee that, short of an act of congress or Presidential intervention, you won't see any of those nukes on line for at least 24 hours, and probably more like 48 hours. In fact, I don't think an act of congress would help all that much since these plants have to be looked over rather carefully before restarting. Its prudent.

Thanks -- might be of interest that several TV channels are off the air -- 2, 5 and 9 in NYC, 21 and 22 in NJ.

Okay, just how many more times is the 2001 Cheney quote going to be spammed here?

Prolly until something is done about it.

You have to give Cnn credit on this one. They are doing a nice job.

CNN is great for breaking news. Until they figure out how to spin it...

Well.....the way I see it, HE did this. He and Davis and the clintons.

How's THAT for a conspiracy? :-)
