I hesitate to even get in there. Too many people saying it's seemingly okay with them to have cops (charged with apprehending dangers to society and/or bringing people to trials) determining someone's guilt and torching them to death.

I was 100% behind LE, all day long, heck all week long, until this torch-and-run crap started.

I'm kinda tweaked today, can you tell? :)

Yeah but when your trying to "contain" somebody somewhere, you've got to "surround " them. By the same token, all player's should have "situational awareness" as to who is downrange.

Oh yeah, I agree. I just sort of prefer the "extended L", which enables you to see all four sides without crossfire problems as opposed to the "stand in a circle and shoot toward the center" approach which they found themselves in that day. Cuts down on the department's insurance premiums and saves the taxpayers money.

I hope you realize I'm at least half kidding. That incident was pretty chaotic and fast developing. Afterwards, it produced all the (by now) familiar critic's questions about why the fire department didn't go into action immediately, why gas was used, etc.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Amazing thread. I'm glad I didn't catch it live or I wouldn't have gotten anything else done.

Then you'd have been like the rest of us. :)

I avoided the scanner and computer most of yesterday and could feel myself decompressing.. then ended up sleeping 9 straight hours last night. It's amazingly stressful. And we were only listening.

It's interesting how FR beat the news by hours. We beat the papers by even more hours, plus they've gotten a lot of details wrong.

No that is a church.

Thanks. Now the following info makes sense: I heard yesterday some talk about several troops being assigned to church-cleanup. Not only were they cleaning up the mess from the CP which had been there, they were on "tumbleweed detail" and it sounded almost like a trade for the use of the church on Friday! I wonder if that was set up at the time?

[completely imagined conversation:]

"We need to use your property."

"Of course. We'll need some guaranteed assistance in readying the church for Sunday, though."

Talk about community-based action.

So has any local freeper been by to actually see whether the main house burned down?

I'd really like to hear it from a freeper - i.e. someone I can trust.

I have not driven by myself, because the perimeter is still set up (albeit smaller of course). Local press reports say that a guest house burned but the main house is still intact.

Thanks, lainie.

At least their home didn't burn. I sure do feel sorry for the owners though. I hope they are fairly compensated.
