It CAN be a felony under some conditions. But it's not automatic.

In today's feminized, PC'd, ACLU'd America they went overboard. In the days of freedom to defend one's country, to defend a woman's honor, to hang child rapists - they would be lauded. So what you say is true now. They went overboard. And we all are caught in the web of forced inaction while elected officials and foundations and lawyers exert control as we watch our beloved country being dismantled. Happier now?

I notice that you didn't answer my question, so I pose it for the second time:

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

Just answer that question with a "yes" or a "no."

No, but your smart ass posts indicate that you have little understanding of firearms.

"Smart? Yes. Ass? You."

I was not talking to you. So I am not sure why you felt it necessary to respond to this.

I see the border militias as a form of civil disobedience.

Yes. I was thinking the same thing. In a previous thread about this, one of the guys arrested said he was sick about illegals just walking over our unprotested borders. Well so am I and many others.

The "lack of border enforcement" situation is getting so bad that some patriotic guys are willing to do what maybe considered desparate acts.

I answered you. But as usual, on this subject your sympathies lie with illegals. It is YOU who do not address the rights of the Americans. In Washington even the POLICE are not allowed to ask for identification if they suspect illegals. You are so determined to be angry at fellow Americans who stand up for themselves that you refuse to as much as acknowledge the road which led us here. It's all about rights, but someone else's - not OURS. Seems to jive with the typical dem propaganda. If the problem doesn't get resolved, it will get a lot worse than what you read in the article. And this wink wink at Mexicans crossing illegally isn't doing them any good either. Their families are seperated. Kids without dads, wives without husbands, husbands getting girlfriends until they return home? Oh yeah, this is really helpful for the families. Just more cruel liberal side effects from "tolerant" policies.

I would wager that you never shoved a gun into the faces of unarmed women and children under the pretext that they were of a different race than you.

Anyone is free to break any law they want to, provided they are willing to accept the consequences for their own actions.

I answered you.

No, you did not.

For the third time:

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

Just answer that question with a "yes" or a "no."

BTW, why do you refuse to give a yes/no answer?

But as usual, on this subject your sympathies lie with illegals.

Not true; I am merely not sympathetic to those who definitely were engaging in felonious conduct.

I didn't see anything about these particular illegal aliens detaining folks at gunpoint.

It is YOU who do not address the rights of the Americans.

Uh, no. You're the one who is curiously reticent on whether a civilian may detain you at gunpoint for not showing them your papers.

In Washington even the POLICE are not allowed to ask for identification if they suspect illegals.

Irrelevant to this discussion.

You are so determined to be angry at fellow Americans who stand up for themselves that you refuse to as much as acknowledge the road which led us here.

You're the one making excuses for the actions of your co-tribalists--while not telling us whether you think that such actions are permissible against anyone as a matter of course.

It's all about rights, but someone else's - not OURS.

Ultimately, it IS about our rights.

I refer you to the question you keep trying to not answer.

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

It's not that difficult a question to answer.

Seems to jive with the typical dem propaganda.

You're the one who invokes the Maxine Waters arguments here...

If the problem doesn't get resolved, it will get a lot worse than what you read in the article.

Yup. The next step in the Democrat tribalist argument: "No justice, no peace!" which translates to "Give us what we want or we'll engage in thuggery to get it."

Someone should look up the law and post it here. If nobody does, I'll probably do it myself depending on how motivated I am.

Hey CJ. You were gone for a while. Guess you're a working stiff.

I think the two fellas in the story that inspired this thread should be called "Dumb" and "Dumber". Cuffing and holding children at gunpoint is not something the average citizen should do, it's not good for the soul. They screwed up.

Anyway, clarify something for me, if you would, please.

Where do you stand regarding illegal immigration?

well of course not...being of a different race is not an arrestable offense, however, i have arrested several women and some of who became very violent in the process.....no, i did not shoot them, but to tell the truth, i would rather fight 3 sober men than 1 drunk woman.

Again, you do not address the rights of Americans.

To the contrary, YOU refuse to address the rights of Americans, specifically your own rights!

For the fourth time:

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

Just answer that question with a "yes" or a "no."

OK, Poohbah. I'll bite on this juicy worm. ;^P

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

Just answer that question with a "yes" or a "no."

Two scenarios: First one. You are walking down 'J' Street in Sacramento. The answer. Oh, hell no! Doesn't matter what you look like or how you're dressed.

Second one. You have just waded across the Colorado River into the United States. The answer to 'a.' Yes, I certainly do. The answer to 'b.' Only if you ignore my intructions to stay and try to leave the area.

The events here were the first case you postulated, and not the second. Thank you for answering the question.

Ah, I see you're afraid to speak for yourself.

For the fifth time:

Do I have the right to (a) demand your identification papers, and (b) detain you at gunpoint and handcuff you when you refuse to provide said papers?

Just answer that question with a "yes" or a "no."

BTW, the scenario here matched eldoradodude's first scenario and not his second.
