I didn't write the headline. World Tribune is conservative news site so I think Bush has a lot of trouble ahead of him unless he can fire up his base.
And by the way this is not a BB (Bash Bush) thread.

The Jewish vote is important but if Bush blindly lines up for the Muslim vote, he is bound to make a lot of Christian conservatives stay home in '04. He needs the Christian conservative base 100% if he is to win this election.

Such a surprise.

Why not indeed. This isn't even pandering or reaching out--it is keeping the Muslim votes Republicans have. And that isn't going to be easy.
Beware of Democrats pretending to be Republicans using this against Bush. The tactic is twofold: 1. Stir up Republicans to make statements which will drive Muslims out of the GOP. 2.Turn conservatives against Bush.
The Democrat goal is to make the Muslim vote as solid a liberal voting block as blacks are. Lieberman has been quiet about it for a while but last year he suggested America open its door to massive Palestinian immigration.

"Does everyone still think Rove is a genius?"
Yes. Their votes count as much as yours and while he's patting them on the head with one hand, with the other he's locking their terrorist butts up. Thats how presidential politics is played my young friend.

Oh, come on. You posted the article and then you wrote:
"Does everyone still think Carl Rove is a genius?"
Tell me where Rove has anything to do with this article?
Tell me where this article mentions POTUS as having agreed to adhere to muslim demands?

Let the political neophyte kiddies have their fun.
Maybe someday they will grow up and learn to think and not to take as the word of God some tabloid headline.

You don't think Rove is running the show politically? He is Bush's chief political strategist!!!
Karl Rove apparently believes that it was American Muslims who were responsible for your election to the presidency, and his strategy for 2004 seems to be to keep that constituency happy. Thanks to Rove, Bush has hosted in the White House Muslim leaders who support terrorist groups such as Hamas and who have called for a Jihad against America.
Bush will lose support in the Christian and Jewish communities, while all of his pandering to Muslim interest groups by sacrificing Israel will avail him nothing in the election. Like his father before him when he followed the directions laid out by James Baker, he will not return to the White House if he keeps pandering to the Muslim vote.
The effort to curry favor with Islamists may not only be bad for the national security but it may jeopardize his political base without producing offsetting gains among Muslim voters and/or donors. American Muslim Council communications director Faiz Rehman said: ´There´s no chance Muslims are going to vote for Mr. Bush [in 2004]."
Why sacrifice his base to curry favor with Muslims when he will probably not get their vote anyway?

"You provide no back-up for your claims."
You want back-up for the "claim" that most Arab-Americans in Michigan (and in the U.S., by the way) are Christian? Do you also want evidence that most Italian-Americans are Catholic? And as for my contention regarding suburban and blue-collar voters, check out the Bush-Gore numbers for the suburbs and the blue-collar areas. I suggest you do some reading on both of these subjects.
"The fact is Bush lost Michigan, so the Arab and Muslim vote helped him nada there."
Well, you are certainly correct that Bush lost Michigan in 2000. But he also failed to carry Pennsylvania, and I hope you aren't implying that he should refuse to seek votes from Pennsylvanians. If the Arab vote can help Bush carry Michigan in 2004, we can pretty much mail in the election, since no Democrat who doesn't carry Michigan can hope to get 270 electoral votes against Bush.
Again, I am not saying Bush should pander to Muslims and make any changes on the necessary components of the War on Terror. And from what the article said, that's not what Bush is doing. While I share your revulsion for Islam as it is practiced by many people around the world, and while I wish Muslims would embrace Christianity, we can't badmouth President Bush just because he tries to get people to vote for him. That's what Presidents have to do.

"If Bush doesn't want to pander to Muslims, why does he insist that Israel release Palestinian terrorists, while he doesn't ask the Palestinians to dismantle their terror infrastructure?"
I assume because he believes (mistakenly, in my opinion) that a Palestinian State can exist peacefully beside Israel. If Bush was only interested in pandering to voters, he would not be seeking peace in the Middle East. Don't confuse foreign policy with pandering.

Bush wants to get the Muslim vote but he does not have a chance according to the American Muslim Council communications director. Sacrificing Israel to appease the Islam world will not solve his election problems in 2004.
To: AuH2ORepublican
I was disputing the claim that Muslims "put Bush over the top" in 2000. It's an oft told lie.
