excellent post, this is what is going on with discussion too. Even in public gatherings you can't voice your opinion in favor of conservative posititions because you don't want to be labeled. I know young conservative lawyers who simply can't be open with their opinions because they work for the state or public defenders and that would be suicide for their careers. (imagine a PD who says homosexuals can seek treatment for their behavior? or one PD who can't admit to the pro-gore feminist supervisor he is assigned to that he voted for Bush.)

BTW moving firearms discretely is always a good policy regardless.

Don't you mean that 'even in Republican gatherings you can't voice your opinion in favor of conservative posititions because you don't want to be labeled'?

They'll take my gun away if I do that, he told the desperate girls, whose brother and sister were dying horribly at that moment.

Why the hell keep a gun in the first place if you won't even use it to stop a lunatic from murdering a family with a pitchfork!?!?!

What a hero...

Thanks for posting this. Claire Wolfe is great, IMO -- I wonder if she and Ann Coulter know each other?

Coulter is witty and helpful, but not nearly as relevant as this gal.

Coulter's defense of John "freedom hater" Ass-croft is a good reference to the difference in mindset.

You're right. Claire Wolfe is by far the better writer and she sees the bottom line very clearly. I especially like the one she wrote about it's too late to work within the system but too early to shoot the b@#$%^&s. :^)

There's a lot of truth in this post, and it says a great deal about the people of this nation.

At one time our society was more primative, and the people wouldn't tolerate what today's people tolerate.

As Americans became more advanced they also became more tolerant to government intrusions.

What good is there to being a part of an advanced society if the advancements take us into the past?

This is what Claire Wolfe posted on WolfesBlog, after she read the 20 (out of 52) chapters from my novel posted on its website:

"A sniper opens fire on a crowded football stadium on the first day of the season. The crowd panics and stampedes. A thousand people die ... and the federal government immediately goes not only into gun-banning mode, but into a post-911-type security frenzy that ultimately brings the country FIST (Firearms Inspections Stop Terrorism) checkpoints and brutal demonization of gun owners. The alleged (and quickly deceased) sniper has conveniently used a "military-style assault weapon," and conveniently fits the profile every anti-gunner loves to hate. The loss of freedom looks unstoppable. But is it?

And that's merely the opening of Enemies Foreign And Domestic, the first novel by Matthew Bracken, a self-described "freedom addict." Unlike most freedom-movement novels, this one is loaded with action and populated by characters you'll believe, like, and identify with.

~~Claire Wolfe, author of "101 Things to do 'Til the Revolution" and "Don't Shoot the Bastards (Yet)"

ENEMIES gets deeply into media complicity in the loss of our freedom, the "surveillance society" and the loss of privacy, data mining and "behaviour predicting programs," and many other aspects of life in the modern Quisling era. It's not only about the snuffing out of the second amendment and the RKBA.

The novel at its heart is an exploration of the true meaning of patriotism and loyalty, in an era when government bureaucrats are increasingly becoming the "domesic enemies" we swore to defend the Constitution against.
