Magnified images of a curious speck on the water revealed this:

A pile of sandbags... I didn't say they weren't functional.

BTW, no magnetic poles means all those solar particles come right at you, rather than being redirected. Low Earch Orbit
objects still benefit from Earth's magnetic shielding.

And I did see that space junk documentary - a paint chip at 18K mph can do a bit a damage. Old memories of Omni magazine
had a closeup of a scratch on a Gemini-era (iirc) from a grain of cosmic dust.

The ISS is like outfitting a Caribbean cruise ship, loading the passengers, and then venturing only as far as the harbor breakwater. What do they hope to learn about the big, bad universe by sitting out at the end of the pier?

The ISS is...

It's one of the misguided appeals to the one-worlders and other assorted banner chasers.

I'm still steamed over Goresat and it storage costs. Probably all but totally useless. Give the plans to some engineering
schools and let them come up schemes to use it. They can't do it? Display it in front of the DNC headquarters.
