Blogs have been a great service. There are several that monitor the Times and point out every error, gross misrepresentation, etc, etc. Needless to say, its just about a full time job for them.
No one has mentioned the metablog: Best of the Web by James Taranto on opinionjournal.com. He skewers the left and the Islamofascists like you wouldn't believe. Its required reading for me, even before FR.

blogs are overrated. let the dems write blogs while the conservatives win the election.
The article is actually very misleading. Most news and media articles, correctly point out that a majority of political blogs are right leaning, or center right, to conservative, including the most well known political blogs.
I always find it cute when a media article says that, they never mention the names of any of the conservative or so called center right, or right wing blogs names.

...like James Bond's martini. Didn't they used to call them "vanity" web sites?

Self-indulgent narcissistic ninnys.. Very harsh. I have never commented in this manner to anyone on FR, as I will to you: "You don't know what the H*** you are talking about. F_T_D

Blogs are well suited to leftists.
Really? Why is it that the best known ones tend to be right/libertarian (Andrew Sullivan, Glenn Reynolds, etc.)?
Note that I said blogs are well suited to leftists, not only suited to leftists.
Blogs are well suited to anyone with an opinion.
Which is precisely the difference between blogs and forums for discussion and debate. FR, while specifically a conservative forum, nevertheless has constant debates back and forth on nearly every conceivable topic. If you can't back your opinions up with facts and reason, you're toast. Not so for the self-important blogger, who needn't concern himself with external criticism while sharing his views with the rest of the world. When blogs show up on FR, they're labelled as "vanity posts" and accorded with the respect they deserve.

Some day the history of the 2000 election will be written, and it will say, "FReepers were the minutemen that saved the Bush election from being stolen by Gore and the DNC goons."This is absolutely true.

Why there's any buzz at all about oliverwillis.com is beyond me. Probably because he falls into three PC protected categories - fat, black, and leftist.
His site is about 90% self-promotion, 5% whining that he's not getting any more attention than he is, and 5% recycled leftist conspiracy theories.

Knowing how Democrats cheat, I would suspect well written comments to liberal blogs. Democrats hire public relations firms to scan the net for great phrases so liberal phony elite's can sound like everyday Americans.
So, blog postings can lend an aura of authenticity to a campaign, said Rick Klau, 31, a Dean blogger and software executive from Naperville, Ill. ''These are very honest opinions,'' he said, ''and they're not poll-tested.''

The only blog they mention is run by a RAT, while most of them are conservative. Of course, there's no liberal bias in the lamestream media, is there?
To: Gothmog
Let's be fair. They did mention both sides of the political spectrum; the John Edwards side and the Howard Dean side.
