I should have added, that with McCain, there's no guarantees! He has a hair-trigger temper, but I suspect "W" knows that, and will try not to personally piss-off the senator!

Goldwater is the political godfather of both O'Connor and McCain. I understand Nancy Reagan never forgave him for supporting Ford in 1976.

Paranoid? Geesh....many would welcome it, including myself. And once he did...the clymer press would be done with him. And McCain would be left twisting in the wind.............

If you are lamestreamedmedia labeled "bi-partisan" in today's halls of congress..you are IMO, a stooge for DemoSocialistMarxistLibs everywhere.
Bi-partisanship is generally a one-way street on the hill......When's the last time you heard a clymer whine about a Dem not being bi-partisan? When a Dem won't vote with the Pubbies...they are said to be, "Sticking to their convictions"....
Better go hug another tree, Cowpoke..:)

Read his Conscience of a Coconservative. It must be alien to you.

On the contrary, I read "The Conscience of a Conservative" about 1963 or 1964, but I don't recall that much about the book. I know that is a short book. As I vaguely recall, BMG was against minimum wage laws even back then.
Over the years, Goldwater drifted to the left and was more comfortable in the Rockefeller wing of the party than in the Reagan wing.

"Maybe so. I am just curious to see if McCain will really endorse Bush!" He endorsed him last time. I really don't understand a lot of the animosity within the GOP towards McCain. He follows the GOP line at least 3/4 of the time, yet you get all this nonsense about people wishing he'd become a Rat. Bizarre. I suppose some would rather the party was less inclusive so it could lose the majority. My main theory for McCain's notoriety within the GOP centers around McCain having the sheer audacity to challenge the party's chosen son for the nomination. What chutzpah! What hubris, that a GOP senator would dare such a thing!

"We were fortunate to have a volatile mixture that we put a match to."
Wow!! If that's not an honest statement, I don't know what is!! That's all he wanted to do....take advantage of a volatile situation!! He's disgusting.
To: areafiftyone
As much as I detest McCain, this was not a endorsement. It is just some of the bi-partisan Senate speak that is so common with them.(especially the older ones)

Let's dissect this ridiculous statement:
"Perhaps Kerry thought it deplorable that our government was still sending our troops to die over there for an un-winable and unnecessary war." Wrong on both counts. The war was winnable it was the way it was run that was wrong. Unecessary - ask the couple of hundred thousand South Vietnamese that went to the re-education camps after 1975. You can't because they are dead. A certain doom that Kennedy saw and Nixon knew. Obivously one that you and Jimmy Carter missed.
"He risked his life and became a decorated war hero for this country and that earned him the right to do whatever the hell he wanted to do with those medals." True his risked his life, but other risked theirs for him as well. The trashing of those medals completely disrespected those who fought and died with him.
"We all see how true the domino theory was now." Might be the most uninformed and asinine statement of the three. Laos and Cambodia fell AFTER we pulled out of Vietnam. Two million Cambodians died because of the communist Khamer Rouge - a party that came into existence with the help of the Communist Chinese only after South Vietnam fell. The only thing that stopped Thailand from falling was our continued presence there.
You are right. Kerry can do what he wishes. But don't sell yourself as a decorated war hero if you show no respect for the service you fought in or the men you fought for.
